"Captivity wasn't so bad, I had plenty of food, more books than I could read and a glowing fungus of some kind to keep me company when the sun set, as well as daily lessons in how to use my magic, but I always got distracted by whatever was outside the window, even with all the sunlight," Necri said as he ate his share of the eggs. They tasted a lot like the eggs that would magically appear every now and again, just without as many herbs inside.
When Rain started to talk about how bad it must be for Jimmy in the sun, Necri looked up at the sky. "Well, being able to see in the dark is an incredible boon. I guess light sensitivity must just be to balance it out or something," he said as he watched the clouds move by slowly. Whatever had caused that wind last night had clearly gone by now.

Jimmy chuckled a bit. "Wouldn't work fer me, can't really read an I don't know magic." He then shrugged. "As fer the light sensatif bit... When ah was little ah used ta wish I could see durin the day like normal people now," he laughed and it was one of those mean kinds of laugh, "now ah make use o' it. Less competition at night an' more pickins coz normal folks all make camp fer the night or whatever. Had some fun scaring the willies outa the kids that usedta tease me too."
When Necri mentioned balance he nodded, "Right. I tried to rob this guy once, rich lookin but he stopped me somehow an sat me down an got me talkin. Anyhow he mentiond as how there's three gods an one of them's like the god of balance. Don' know if he was a priest or what but.. yeah.. balances out that's what he said."

She leaned back and listened to their conversation. It was nice to hear the voices--like a cozy reminder that not everything is bad and out to get you. Her own life had been very solitary, except for a few run-ins with others like her. She didn't consider any part of her life a form of captivity. Staying in one place for too long always made her uncomfortable.
Rain found herself nodding to what Jimmy had said, even though she wasn't exactly sure how she knew of the gods or why she agreed about their roles. Far in the back of her mind, there were many facts that had come from an unknown source. She never really remembered how she learned them, she just knew they were there. Rare as it was she noticed their presence, she always acknowledged them to be true.
Breaking out of a reverie, she sat up and added more wood to her fire and poked at her half-cooked meat. She peered up at the sky to find it as clear and bright as ever: probably not the best thing for 'Greyhair's' eyes. She looked at him for a moment before leaning back again. She remained silent on the outside, but her thoughts could not be silenced.

"I couldn't read at all and all I could really do with magic was break things before I was taken, but that changed when I began to learn," Necri said as he stared into the fire. It seemed to be moving strangely, but Necri didn't pay any heed. It was probably nothing, just another thing he didn't know that well.
When Jimmy brought up the topic of the Gods, Necri thought for a moment. "Don't know much about the Gods myself, just that there's one that brings life, one that brings chaos and one that keeps some kind of balance in our world. I really only know about the adumbra, the land of the dead," Necri said as he poked the fire with a stick to keep it warm.
"Maybe we should find a cave or something when the fox is done. I think I saw a little one when I was looking for the fox," Necri said as he noticed that the sun was starting to come out from behind the clouds. If it got any worse, he was afraid that Jimmy might have some problems.

Jimmy listened to Necri and nodded a bit. "Uh huh makes sense." Was about the only thing he said for a while then he shifted and curled up on his side pulling his hood fully over his face. "No," he yawned again, "point hangin round on my accoun. Yeh both prolly got better things ta do. We c'n eat then I'll go sleep or sumthin like usual." he shifted around a bit not seeming to mind that he had weapons and armour still on so he was probably used to that.
"Gi'me a nudge when the fox is done but don' uncover me face..." He mumbled sleepily then was quiet.

Rain made a small noise of agreement, but didn't move. Her thoughts were swirling like the smoke from her fire: they soon dissolved into the world about her like they never existed. She reached for the small utensil 'Greyhair' had produced and poked at her meat. She turned them over and reached for a few more sticks of wood, using one to push more hot embers underneath the stones.
She leaned back, putting her palms on the dry ground. She looked out at the woods about her, squinting against the bright sun reflecting off the snow. If it was this bright for her, how must it feel for 'Greyhair'? She shifted her gaze towards him, still laying back with the blanket about his head. His sudden appearance, plus the appearance of the other creatures, seemed to have something to do with the collapse of the invisible castle, though she had yet to make a connection. A cloud drifted lazily over the sun, gradually dimming the area and lifting part of the strain off Rain's bright blue eyes. She tilted her head and scanned the area, which seemed very welcoming during the day. At night, she found the area slightly appalling, now especially because of the creatures. She suddenly realized she had never come across the bodies.
She soon became distracted from that vein of thought by a very good smell. Looking down, the fox meat she had been cooking seemed to be finished. She reached out and poked Jimmy's leg softly with her clawed finger as he had asked her. Very carefully, she slid one of the hot stones closer to him, and set the spork next to the finished meat. She carefully broke apart the other piece of meat to share with Necri. Taking one portion and holding it gingerly in her hand, she took the other and handed it to Necri. After that, she took the last piece of fox and set it on the stone to cook while she ate. She took a bite and found that it was tough and rather flavorless, but nonetheless good to eat. She devoured her portion quickly, and waited impatiently for the last part of her breakfast to cook.

As Greyheart went back to sleep, Necri felt the urge to remove his cloak, but he didn't. Something told him that being a little warm right now would be a good thing, especially with all the strange weather patterns that had followed them lately. Still, it didn't seem that anything bad would come of random winds and snowstorms-at least, not to him.
Necri busied himself with a ball of snow. He still didn't understand what exactly it was, but he had a feeling that it was like frozen water-but not at the same time, because it wasn't as hard as ice until he squeezed very hard and made a small hunk of ice. As the fox meat began to cook, he dropped his little experiment and watched as the meat was divvied out amongst the three.
"Great! It's perfectly done!" Necri said as he literally devoured his piece of meat. There was nothing left of his share except for a tiny scrap on the side of his mouth that had managed to escape the carnage of eating. What made Necri go for the food like that was beyond him, but it might have had something to do with being outdoors for so long. If he was really changing, he hoped it would be for a good thing. For now though, he decided to remain carefree and put the sudden frenzy to general hunger...for now.

Jimmy woke with a start and a hand flashed to the axe at his right hip, as it was uppermost and easiest to get at. "What! Who's there..." Then he moved his hand away relaxing as he noticed the smell of cooked meat. "Uh.. right.." He sat up slowly, careful to keep his hood covering at least the upper part of his face, and reached for the portion of meat. Much like the other two he ripped into it with his teeth and the other two might notice that his canines are just slightly longer than a humans.
Matched with his eyes and ability to see in the dark, not to mention his fast movements, these might suggest that he certainly isn't human. Then there's the way he emphasised the word human earlier.
He ate fairly quickly but not as fast as Necri had, then belched and curled up again after using snow to clean his mouth and fingers. Apparently he planned to go back to sleep.

Rain leaned back while her meat cooked, closing her eyes and enjoying the feeling in her stomach. She had an urge to move on, and yet another to stay there. She wondered where exactly her and Necri should explore next. Rain decided she would just ask him. She sat up and leaned closer to him.
"Do you know much about the world?" She asked, moving a hand in a sort of wave towards the forest. "Do you know any place you'd like to visit?"

Necri watched as Jimmy ate his share of the meat and swiftly fell asleep. "Impressive," he said to himself as he looked back over at Rain. She seemed content to just wait for anything to happen, but something told him that she also wanted to get a move on. That feeling was certainly confirmed when she actually asked him where he wanted to go!
"Gee, I don't know to be honest. I guess I'd like to see home again, 'cept I don't know where to start looking," Necri replied as he scratched his head. In all the stories that he'd ever read (numbering over a hundred at last count) the characters always seemed to start off on a pre-run path and find themselves who knows where-no such luck for them, they just seemed to have all the rules thrown away for them. How did he even know that his home still stood? That his parents were still alive? He guessed that it was just an undeniable hope that rested somewhere in his gut...

Jimmy occasionally moves a bit in his sleep but somehow manages not to uncover his face. He doesn't snore but he doesn't sleep quietly either. Oddly, perhaps, he sort of purrs in his sleep. How he can sleep with his weapons and armour still on is anyone's guess but he might be used to it. After all, taking stuff off when you're not sleeping somewhere 'safe' is just asking for others to try and take it. [if you want to move on without Jimmy say the word and I'll slip out of the thread He'll be asleep for a while I figure.]

Rain looked thoughtfully at Necri while he spoke, then screwed her face up in concentration. Where could he have come from? It would be immensely hard to tell, considering the fact that he lived in an invisible, moving castle. Exploring would always be fun, though, and, who knows, they could run into someone else unexpectedly who could be as helpful as 'Greyhair'.
She looked over at Jimmy's sleeping form at the thought of him. He seemed to be resting contentedly. Her opinion of him became significantly higher in just a short period of time, though her hand was still a little sore. She lifted her hand to examine it before speaking, "Riiga is very big," she said, turning her attention back to Necri's face, "but that's just a lot of chances to find something new." She tried to smile, but she wasn't always very good at it.

((Well, we can't just leave him out there!))
"I guess so, but I reckon it wasn't around here. I remember there not being any snow, even in the winter months...or maybe there was a little," Necri said as he began to drag one of his fingers through the snow. He seemed to be absentmindedly drawing a small villiage from above, one that was perched on top of many hills and surrounded by farms and vast plains on every side. He didn't know why he started drawing, or even if the scratches that he was making had any relation to any villiage anywhere at any point in Riigan history, but he knew for certain that it might be a clue.
"Does this look familiar to you? It just kind of popped into my head just then," Necri asked as he pointed to his crude top-down map. Thick clouds began to move over the sun, which could mean that either it was going to snow, or there was some icy rain in their future...or not. Whatever the result, Necri knew that it would be wise to get 'Greyhair' to somewhere a little more darkness-friendly than where they were right now.

[heh.. fine, it's your thread ] Jimmy stirred as the thick clouds rolled in. He lifted his head a bit but didn't really look round all that much. "Storm coming." He mumbled a little sleepily. "There's a cave not far from here, I've use sometimes." He pushed him self up into a sitting position and rubbed his face without uncovering it.

Rain squinted at Necri's drawing, searching through old memories for a link. They appeared, on the outside, to simply be some scratches in the dirt. But it felt like something more, like some of Necri's memories spread out for her to tap into. She started to suck her lower lip in concentration, hardly noticing 'Greyhair' beginning to speak.
She turned her head to him, his head still covered in a blanket. "We'll follow you there," she said, starting to stand up and forgetting about her cooking meat. "I want my blanket back."
