"Hey! Let her go!" Necri exclaimed as he reached out his palm. He didn't know it at the time, but he accidentally sent out a painful attack directly into Greyhair's mind! All he wanted to do was to make him let go of Rain. He didn't think that she meant anything cruel by her words, so it must be this newcomer that was in the wrong!
"Please let her go...can't we all just calm down?" Necri asked as he looked over at Rain, who still looked to be in a bit of pain. The winds began to pick up a little as the three looked at each other. Not by much, but just a little.

'Greyhair' staggered a bit then dropped to one knee, but he clearly fought to keep a grip on his weapons. He closed his eyes and yelled out, loud enough to wake ghosts or scare animals. "Aaaaahhhrrrrrrrrrgg." He eventually dropped his hands to the ground, though he kept hold of the weapons in them - which of course would mean the whip would tug at Rain causing it to bite deeper into her hand.
Jimmy shook his head a few times, perhaps trying to clear the painful feeling. He ignored Rain and fixed his attention on Necri. His expression was strained but there was clear anger and hatred in his amber eyes. Determinedly he sheathed his sword. He then turned the same angry look to Rain. "You. Yeh might be female but yeh sure aint no girl. Brown fur, orange hair. Yer a Sirin. I've seen Sirin fight."
Jimmy managed to get back up and he looked back to Necri. "Nice whiskers... guess you're Ildemin." He paused and shook his head again. "Tell yeh what, yeh let go of me head an I'll let go o' the Sirin."

As 'Greyhair' fell, pulling Rain with him, she hit the forest floor with her knees, wincing with pain. Blood started to trickle off her fur. She looked at her hand and then back up at Jimmy, anger seeming to glow from her eyes. She slowly picked herself up, making sure the whip had some slack. Her eyes lifted to Necri's face, which looked thoroughly befuddled.
"You don't have to listen to him," Rain said to Necri, taking another step closer to 'Greyhair', "He just can't stand a bit of pain."

"Wait...what did I do?" Necri asked. Suddenly, he realised. "Whoops, let me get that for you," he said and with a wave of his hand, the pain was lifted from Greyhair's mind.
"Now, let her go," Necri said with just a hint of a growl in his voice. He knew that this newcomer would probably change his mind, but with compliance to his demands, there was a little more hope that he too would agree. The winds continued to pick up, but Necri didn't notice. His only concern was Rain's safety.
All the while, the shadowy creature watched their actions from a distance.

Jimmy turned his hand holding the whip a certain way then flicked his forearm, the two movements precise and quick but slow enough to see. The whip uncoiled from Rain's hand and flicked away off to one side and somewhat behind the grey haired youth. He then coiled it carefully and hung it back on the hook on the right side of his belt.
That done Jimmy took a step away from Rain. He didn't draw a weapon but both Rain and Necri had seen how swiftly he could move when he wanted to. If the Sirin kept advancing at him he kept taking a step back or to one side, maintaining the distance. Jimmy said nothing now, keeping his eyes on both the black clad Ildemin and the Sirin ignoring the thing in the tree for now.

As soon as the whip was off her hand, she took a step back and scowled, half looking at her throbbing hand and half at the one with the whip. The fact that he didn't play fair added much to her rage and pain. She turned her head ever so slightly up towards the figure in the trees, and jumped when it wasn't there. The hairs on the back of her neck prickled, and her eyes shifted about her. Could it have been Greyhair's accomplice? She was glad Necri could see behind her, because she wouldn't dare turn her back on this thief.
The air was thick with tension, and Rain herself wasn't sure what to do or to say. She stood silently, studying the person in front of her. He had great speed about him, so she could never take him by surprise. There was also a mysterious persona about somewhere in these woods, a fact that only made her even more tense. If Necri was able to grab his mind again, there would be a chance to take him down and get out of there.
She took another step back and spread her feet apart. Though her sword hand was still hurting, she was able to keep a firm grip upon. her weapon. Her head tilted, her mouth slightly ajar. She gazed at Greyhair before speaking. "We have no money on us, and as you can see the only thing of value on me is my sword. I doubt you can sell my friend's abilities, and I doubt you'll be able to get my sword. Why don't you just rob someone else?" Her mouth curved into a smiled, "Or, you know, do something productive with your life."

"Or we could thank him for keeping up his part of the deal. Besides, I bet you just came across us by accident, right?" Necri asked as he sat down in the snow. Dispelling mind poison usually knocked him about, but not like this! As he looked up at the thing that had been watching them, it seemed to be getting further away, like it was trying to escape.
"What is that thing anyway?"

The grey haired youth smiled just slightly and winked. "Right." He agreed with Necri, making no comment on weather he could get Rain's sword or if it was possible to sell Necri's skills. He turned his head and looked in the same direction as the whiskerd mage.
"That'swha I was trying ta work out. Figured the two of yeh woul be able to catch it but... Miss don steal from girls oer there tripped over me an here we is." Jimmy unhooked his whip from his belt once more but this time he did it slowly while he scanned the trees. "Ow aboud ah see ifin ah c'n get it ta come back this way." That said he simultaneously threw something from his left hip - a small axe by brief look the other two would get - that stuck into a tree and lashed his whip upwards into the branches. Using the small axe as a step and the whip to pull himself up he was in the trees in a flash and moving from tree to tree just as easily as the shadowed thing. Every now and then he paused and lashed at the thing with his whip like he was herding an animal.

Rain's eyebrow went up as she watched Necri settled down on the forest floor. Then her gaze turned to Greyhair, who was now speaking. She squeezed the handle of her sword when he lifted the whip off the hook, but remained motionless. After the axe had flown, she calmed down increasingly. If he wanted to kill them, they'd both already be dead.
She watched after him as he chased the creature. She was tempted to just start walking the other direction, but he would most likely follow them eventually. She walked over next to Necri, lifting her injured hand for examination at the same time.
"What do you plan on doing now?" She asked, almost tempted to rip off part of his cloak and wrap it about her aching hand.

"We'll just see what this guy can do. Who knows? It might be useful to keep him around, in case we run into real bandits," Necri said as he pulled out his scythe and examined it. There weren't too many dents or breaks in it, so he might be useful if the...thing decided to attack.
"That looks nasty. Here," Necri said as he once again called upon the shadows. As he did, an inky blackness surrounded the injury and in a matter of moments, there was no sign that she had ever been attacked! It would still be a little tender for a while, but that was all he could do for now.
"It'll still hurt for a while, so just stay with me until that...thing gets closer and we can work out what it is," he said between short gasps for air. He seemed to be getting weaker as it got closer, but his curiosity wanted to get a good look at it.

It took a while but 'Greyhair' managed to herd the shadowed figure back to near where Necri and Rain were waiting. Him in one tree, it in another. "So... uh, yeh want me ta try get this... whatever down there 'r are yeh two gunna come up an take a gander." He called down to the pair. From a distance his amber eyes almost seemed to glow softly in the dark.
While Rain and Necri made up their minds the youth reached under his cloak and took out a length of rope. Crouching down he tied one end of the rope around the tree branch, roughly between his feet, then he tied a lump of metal to the other end of the rope. He sat there swinging it slightly while he waited and kept an eye on the thing in the other tree.

Rain gazed at her hand for a moment, turning her wrist and looking at the now-healed wounds. They were a little sore, but she was no longer bleeding and could hold her sword with minimal discomfort. Gripping the handle, she stood up slowly grabbing Necri's shoulder for support. She caught sight of the grey haired youth's eyes, and felt a hint of unease. She took a few steps away from Necri and spread her feet apart in an attempt to catch the form. It remained stationary for now.

"Wait...I think I've seen that thing before," Necri said as he nimbly climbed up the tree to meet eyes with what he thought was a missing shadow, or something.
"...YOU! You're the one that broke the statue! I took the blame for that when I could barely walk!" Necri exclaimed. For some reason, he recognised this thing as a creature that he had spotted just before a statue came crumbling down when he was very young. In an instant, the creature jumped back and released a hissing noise.
"Don't try that routine on me now, I know your weak points!" Necri roared at the thing as he let his scythe drop out from inside his sleeve. In an instant, he was chasing after it without giving a word of explanation to his companions. This was his fight and he was going to see that thing destroyed if it killed him!

Jimmy threw the weighted end of the rope at the creature. This Necri fellow seemed to know it and want it dead so he might as well help. The weighted end snaked out much like his whip had when he attacked Rain with it, and wrapped around the creature's ankle pulling it's escape up short.
Obviously the grey haired youth didn't believe in a fair fight or, for that matter not interfering in other peoples business. "That should slow it down fer..." Something slammed into him from behind knocking him from the tree and sending him falling to the ground. Rain might notice it was another creature like the one Necri was nor jumping to attack. "Fuk. There's two of em." the youth cursed as he fell, however, he didn't just fall like most people might. His body flexed and twisted and he landed safely on his feet and both hands like a cat. "Hahaha... weren't spectin tha was yeh." He said then sprang up and dashed for where his small axe was still stuck in the tree from before.
One movement was all he seemed to need to yank the small axe free and throw it at the one that had pushed him from the tree and the second axe, from his right hip followed an instant later. Both hit and seemed to injure the thing enough that it too fell from the tree.

Rain quickly jumped to chase after Necri, wondering, again, if he was in his right mind. After it had fallen, she stopped to see if Necri would finish it himself. From behind came the sound of cursing, so she turned to see the youth lithely land on his hands and feet. She stood still, confused whether to help Necri or Greyhair. Reason told her to help Necri, but the thud of the creature nearest, as it hit the ground, pulled Rain in. She ran with her sword at the ready, hoping not to kill it but to question it. Neither Necri or the other seemed to feel they needed to be alive. She was curious as to what or who they were, though she knew they were not human.
Within just a few seconds she was next to the black form, laying slightly crumpled on the ground with an ax firmly planted in what seemed to be the back of it's shoulder. It wasn't moving, so she assumed it was still stunned. Quickly, she jumped jumped to straddle it's back, and positioned her sword along the creatures neck. It's flesh was neither soft nor hard, but seeming to shift constantly. It uttered a sort of hissing noise, but did not move. Rain did not move either, but struggled to find something to do.
It felt like someone had blown out a candle inside of her, and she jerked up off the thing. She felt cold inside and out, and her mind spun oddly before she staggered back and into a tree. Her hand moved to her forehead, which felt cold, too. The ground seemed to shift under her, and she slowly slid down the tree until she was sitting on the snow-dusted ground. She squinted as dark forms moved around in front of her. She moved her arms to her side, and put her hands on the ground. She tried to push herself up, but suddenly the ground wasn't there. Her elbows were numb with cold, and her hands hurt. And where was her sword? The dark figures started to blend with the background, and everything went dark.
