[Much better. No large assumptions made, yet plenty of content for us to react to]
Scott cursed under his breath when he saw the magician thing wasn't dead, and he almost cursed Nikina when the being stood up and tried to pull the arrow out. Luckily, the silver seemed to burn his unseen hands. The being doubled over and became swallowed in dark smoke. The plants in the immediate area fell dead and the ground grew charred. The two creatures that were pulling open the gate tried to grab its edges again, but they didn't seem to be succeeding too well at all. The magic being turned back around and pointed all his fingers at the gate in an attempt to keep it strong.
"We attack now," Scott whispered, loudly enough for the others to hear. "Those three strongest ones have to keep the gate open. If they let go to attack us, that hole vanishes!"
Without waiting to hear what anyone else had to say, he leaped the wall and locked himself into combat with the nearest Folang -- a brutish fellow with a nasty spiked club. The other Folang had yet to find the cowering Lucian and still could not find the location of Wildfire and Eric, but it would be difficult to hide for much longer since the Folang were spreading out.

When he saw the Folang start spreading out to find the four Lucian found a tree that looked relatively easy to climb and hastily set about clambering up it as best he could. The young noble wasn't as deft and stealthy as Eric would have been at the same task but he'd clearly climbed a tree or two.
It would have been clear from the earlier attack that the youth wasn't much of a fighter so on this occasion he had most likely decided the best place for him to be was out of reach of the brutish Folang. Especially as some of these were much bigger then the four that had encountered them on the beach previously.
Obviously, Lucian had no knowledge of weather or not Folang were good climbers but there would clearly be much less chance of the savage boy throwing one at him. Therefore, the young noble gave all his attention to getting as far up the tree as he possibly could.

Eric hardly noticed Lucian climbing. He took a moment to notice the charging creatures. His arm was in pain such that he hadn't felt for years. He could tell it was broken. He'd done the breaking of other's bones enough to know when one was broken. He himself had only had it once, when he was a child and the old couple cared for him.
Still, he had other worries right now. Luckily he knew how to fight with both hands. But when he actually started into battle it was clear his broken arm was hampering him. Where as in the previous battle he'd used both hands and viciously attacked with his bare hands as wel as his spear. Here he relied much more heavily on his spear, and it's accuracy and power were clearly lessened. Not only that, but his stamina was lower and his agility less. It wasn't long before he backed off, giving up to wounds.

"We attack now" was all that Wildfire needed to hear. Without waiting for the rest, he practically flew into the thick of things. With the appearance of a white-cloaked and slightly soggy archer (Wildfire had neglected to ring out his cloak after rescuing it before,) a few of the creatures bothered to stop arguing amongst each other and rushed at him. Wildfire wasn't concerned...he simply pinned the nearest one to the ground by his feet and dashed out to a safer distance.
He realised that with these silver arrows as his only weapon, he'd be most effective at a distance. Besides, these things did an insane amount of damage! Only an idiot would give that up...

Scott exchanged blow and parry with his ferocious Folang time and time again, but Scott was gaining an edge when he began to push into the Folang's defensive moves. None of the Folang saw Lucian up in the tree. He was perfectly safe for the time being. When Eric withdrew due to injuries, Scott went to help him out, quite concerned. Folang rushed after them but Scott turned and warded them off with some quick swings, protecting Eric in the stone alcove that was there.
The Folang chased after Wildfire, too. They quickly figured out he was the archer so they caught him in a pincer attack in groups of two, each one swinging madly after the other with sharp weapons, trying their hardest to cut him. They backed him into a corner and tried to keep him there.
Meanwhile, the gate hummed and trembled, and grew a little. It had arm-like appendages or roots coming out of it, and they would try to grasp the stone arch around it as though trying to secure itself. The top of the arch was loose, though. All it would take was the weight of a small person and it would surely come tumbling down.

[ok, this is probably a tad nuts but... I guess I should do something]
From his perch Lucian could see the others having difficulty fighting off the Folang. The young noble soon realized he'd have to do something to help but what could he do.
He carefully moved along a branch, almost hugging it as he did, and leaning out to one side or the other to look around. Then he seemed to notice the arch a short distance below him and studied it for a good couple of minutes. He swung himself around the branch he was on so he was hanging under it with his arms and legs wrapped around to hold himself in place. Biting his bottom lip nervously he adjusted his grip with his arms and let his feet slide off the branch.
As it happened he was just tall enough that his feet hit one of the upper stones of the arch. Not all his weight was on the arch of course, but it appeared he'd picked just the right stone and it came lose. As the stone dropped from under him he slipped slightly and probably skinned his arms on the coarse bark of the tree. It was clearly a struggle but he managed to pull his legs back up and wrap them around the branch once more.
So much for not being noticed.

Eric was contiuing to back off, moving out of the alcove. He didn't need protection, he could handle it all himself. As long as he could get away. But unfortunately for him, that seemed unlikely to happen. He'd only gotten a short ways away when a large Folang punched him from behind. The savage was hurled into the ground and then picked up by his neck. The Folang hollared to address everyone. The message was fairly clear. Surrendet, or Eric would be killed.

Great, he was caught in a pincer hold...not even Wildfire knew how he could get out of this one on his own! If there was ever a need for divine intervention, he had a feeling it'd be now...no, he couldn't rely on luck-or could he?
"Sorry lads, I've got to be going now!" he said as he shot an arrow straight up into a weak tree branch. The shot was so well placed that it caused part of the branch to fall on one of the folang. While the remaining folang looked at the branch, Wildfire took the chance to step over the branch and put some decent space between himself and the remaining enemies! Without skipping a beat, he began to fire off arrows as he had before. Unfortunately, some of them had managed to get a few cheap shots in and his armour was now split and rather weak in some places...he'd need to work fast if he wanted to get out of this alive...

The stone that Lucian had knocked loose slipped out of place and toppled down to the altar below. As this arch was held in place with gravity, the entire arch began to tremble and slide. The rumbling was loud and the portal had nothing to grasp onto, so it began to shiver and wail. The two giants holding it wasted no time waiting around, and they jumped through, vanishing into nothingness. The magic being also ducked into the infrashadow and with that it snapped. Bricks and debris were blasted in every direction, and a deafening explosion shook the ruins. The Folang that was holding Eric was hit between the eyes by a particularly large brick, and its skull crunched.
When the dust settled, it seemed that the Folang had run off in distress, yet the gate remained open. Scott, who had received a piece of brick to the back of his head, had quite a headache as he approached the altar. The gate was no longer an eerie purple, but was now a strange off yellow/brown, and a gentle humming came from it. He turned to each of his comrades to see if they were hurt.

When bricks and debris suddenly blasted in every direction Lucian tried his best to keep a tight hold on the branch he was clinging beneath. The young Noble was pelted by chunks of rubble and he almost fell a few times but none of the larger bricks hit him. The Deafening explosion shook the tree violently and it was this that caused him to fall from the branch, crashing through a few lower down an hitting the ground hard enough to knock him out. Possibly even breaking a few bones in the process.

Eric groaned in pain as he was thrown to the ground when the folang holding him got struck. Then he got pelted with rubble. If his situation was bad before, it was really bad now. Luckily he didn't get buried, but he did receive a number more open wounds and some eally nasty bruises. It wasn't like he was unused to injuries, but not as severe as he was getting. He usually avoided those.
He struggled to his feet and limped back to his companions. "Are you okay?" he asked, trying not to let pain in his voice.

When the blast reached Wildfire, he was definately taken off guard. The debris tore right through his cloak and knocked him to his feet. When he came to, he grunted in mild pain and annoyance, "My sisters made this for me..." he said to nobody in particular as he limped towards the others.
A few times in his journey, Wildfire had to lean on his bow. It came dangerously close to breaking, but it stayed together well enough. After Wildfire found something to lean against, he finally managed to take note of what had once been the portal.
"I'm no stranger to magic, but that doesn't look like anything I've read about," he said as he pointed to the...thing that just seemed to float there. It didn't look all that threatening, but then again, just about everything on this island seemed non-threatening before...

Well the explosion of the arch was chaotic. Lucian was quite injured, as was Eric, though the savage admittedly put on a braver face. Scott met Eric.
"Yes, yes" Scott said. "I'm okay. I'm concerned about the noble boy, though." Then Wildfire spoke and Scott looked to him. "It looks foreign to me, too. I'll tell you what... It doesn't look nearly as vile as the other... opening."
Then it dawned on him. The boat was gone, they were all more or less injured, and the island was known for its dangerous forests, and to top it all off, there were still wild Folang about. He gave a good minute's thought on what to do next, but he could come up with nothing. How much longer could they last on this island? Suddenly, nearby foliage rustled and it was clear another figure was nearby. Scott turned and pointed his sword, and a human commoner emerged with his hands up in a sign of surrender.
"More people?" said the commoner in tattered clothes. "How strange. And the gate? Oh, you cleared the monsters! The elder will be most pleased!"
"How did you get here?" Scott asked. "How do we get back to the mainland? Do you have a boat?"
"You want to go back?" asked the man. "You want to... return to the continent. That is simple. Enter the yellow mouth on the alter. It will take you to where you were two weeks prior to now. It's what the elder told us, because he did it himself! Time, however, does not change. It will only move where you are, not when you are."
It sounded almost too good to be true. Step into the portal and go back to where one was a fortnight ago? For Scott, it would be the island of Curin. He looked toward the others with a face twisted between confusion and hope. Meanwhile, the commoner went to Lucian and inspected the boy's wounds.

Lucian was still unconscious, he'd clearly hit his head at least once. He'd been gashed by the Folang on the beach, he had multiple cuts and bruises from blasted rubble and his right leg clearly appeared to be broken.
There may well have been other injuries but those were the most obvious ones. A careful examination by someone stilled would probably be needed to find out the full extent of his injuries. That or perhaps the application of healing magics. He didn't move at all or make a sound as the commoner in tattered clothes makes his inspection.

Eric shook his head. "No, no, we can't use that," he said, almost despondant. "I don't want to go back to where I was. That'll put me on that tiny island all alone." He could feel a little emotion threatening to engulf him, he didn't know why. Maybe it was the injuries making his focus slip. But in any event, he wasn't going through that portal.
