Rain crept from the shadows of her hiding place and scanned the area hesitantly. She slipped back on deck, her body haunched and her fingertips touching the ground as she walked. Gazing up the hull of the larger ship, she grabbed rung by rung of the ladder until she reached the deck. Her eyes peered over and across the planked floor quickly in search of another place to hide.
She ducked below sight and wondered to herself. Her eyes had spotted several spots to take refuge, but they couldn't see past the dark doorways to the strangers below.

Erik followed Rain very quietly up the ladder, and waited for her to make her decision. He wondered how they were going to get on the large boat without getting caught. He honestly wondered what would happen. He wasn't cowardly, but he knew that the man named Ignatius had a fierce amount of power or was a very strong fighter.
The sunset sank lower and lower until a long line of orange was left. The waves of the water were still and gentle, but there was a good breeze in the air. He wondered if it meant that the storm was still in the area and it would rain. As soon as he looked up, he saw the dark clouds swivel over them.
He thought quietly, 'If it rains, then we're going to be drenched. If we hide, we need to go inside.'
He whispered quietly so that only the two could hear, "A storm's coming..."

As it seemed as though it would rain, people -- humans -- began to rush from above deck. They did not see Rain and Erik from their current hiding place. They were too busy trying to get the ship storm-worthy.
"Hoist the sails!" yelled one man. "Get the anchors!" yelled another.
It seemed as though everything was relatively calm below deck now. The door to the cabin was wide open, as was the door to the other end of the ship, that lead down below deck. Ignatius was nowhere to be seen.

After the sailors had carried out their orders and disappeared, Rain scurried up the ladder, onto the deck, and then into the first cabin door. After being struck by sudden darkness, she blinked a few times and then continued down the steps slowly, her padded feet barely making a noise on the wood.
She went down a short passage with doors on both sides, voices coming faintly from a few. She flew into the first empty room full of crates and barrels and huddled into a corner. She hoped that it was the cargo hold and that it wasn't used often.
[Aahh.. I have a feeling we should end this :B]

Erik followed after her, though he was worried more about having someone trip over him since he was on the deck of a crew trying to prepare the ship. He found himself creeping towards the door to the cabin, eyeing Rain to see if she would follow. He saw a crate which was open and he could hide in, which was slightly inside the cabin and could hold two. He decided to hide behind it instead, and his eyes fell on the cabin around them.

The cabin appeared empty. There was a dimming lantern swinging from a hook on the ceiling, making an ear-scraping noise as the metal rubbed against it. The cargo hold, however, was very dark but it, too, was void of sailors. [Sirins have slight night-vision] [That depends how you want to end it I can fast-forward to the point where they are docked on or anchored near the mainland and then you can attempt to escape]

Rain sat silently for a while, peering out from her hiding place now and then towards the door. After a while she began to wonder how much better Erik's location was, so crept up and out into the hall. There were only two doors before the one she entered, so she chose the nearest and stepped into it's darkened interior. Here eyes became accustomed quickly and saw the edge of a red cloth peeping behind a crate.
"You're going to have to do better than that if you want to make it." Rain whispered into the darkness.

Erik looked at her, and then bundled his cloaks tighter to himself, notioning for her to come hide beside her. He listened in closely to the men who were scouroging around on deck, wondering how they would sail in the storm.

A huge man burst into the room, clearly drunk, and not noticing the two figures hidden from sight behind the crates beside him. He reached into a crate in front of him and pulled some bottles out -- one neck between each finger -- and then left as noisily as he had entered.
A dreary silence fell over the ship as it rocked and creaked. The sailors (or pirates. It's not yet known) were few and far between as the crew settled to sleep for the night.

The ship settled into a quiet darkness, all except the timely creaking of the ship rocking gently on the waves. Rain had began to feel a small uneasiness about her after the man had walked into the room so freely, and she wondered what would have been had he not been drunk. Their hiding place was not hidden enough, she knew.
"Erik, we're going to have to figure out a way to get food easily. I don't know how long it will take these men to get us to mainland." She looked over at him to see his head leaning on the side of the crate. He didn't stir as her words fell on his ears. She shrugged and stood quietly and sniffed at different crates.
The room was larger than she first thought, for small passages wove between piles of barrels and boxes. Her nose caught no scent of food, or anything that would interest her stomach. She picked her way back to Erik's side and leant back against a crate parallel to his.

[Fast-forwarding a little]
Erik and Rain could have easily survived a week below deck. Food and drink were plentiful and the sailors/pirates failed to notice them hiding every time they came to grab something. And it must have at least been a week before the ship stirred into action again. They must have reached land, because within an hour or two, the ship suddenly seemed void of sound and movement.

[The ship is docked in Temanea, in the north-east corner above Elcheane. If you wish to find out anything else about where you are, Rain and/or Erik must venture into the town and find out for themselves.]

Rain was extremely restless by the time they had reached the shore, her being a wanderer at heart. The days spent with Erik were uneventful for he slept for the most part, still recovering from the injuries he had sustained from an unknown source. She crept out of the cabin as Erik slept, none too curious if she would cross paths with him again. Reaching the deck, she was nearly blinded by the light. When her eyes adjusted she climbed the last few steps and looked around, seeing nothing but a few crates waiting to be unloaded.
A short ways beyond she saw a dock and low buildings, all bordered by tall trees. She walked to the edge of the ship, peered over the edge, and grimaced. Oh how she hated water, but it would be better to swim than go onto the crowded dock. With one remorseful look back, she swung one leg, then two, over the railings and plopped into the water.
When she resurfaced, spluttering water out of her mouth and blinking water out of her eyes, she tried to swim away from the people towards the shore. This task was more difficult than would be expected, Rain being covered head to toe in thick fur. She dog paddled quickly, mostly being carried towards the shore by the soft tide.
Her foot hit hard rock, and she loudly used some recently aquired sailor-words. Half swimming, half kicking off with her good foot, she clamored to land. Before her lay a vastness unknown to her. Rain walked, water-logged, into the strange forest, ready for a new adventure.

[I've got nothing more to add. That was a nifty escape I think it would be good to maintain the mystery of an unknown land and not to explain any more of where you are -- unless you really want to know. I think this thread is finished, yes?]
