Erik rested against a rock at the top of a hill, looking over a quiet village that was nestled in for the night. The moon clung over and the light was dimming behind a blanket of clouds. Next to him, Erik's horse grazed on long silver grass, swishing her tail and pleased.
Deep down, he yearned to keep going on his journey. He usually didn't run into anyone while on his journeys.

In the cool of the night, Rain sat in a small grove of trees in wait for the last villager to fall asleep. She sighed as her hungry stomach rumbled. Rain shifted her position from one on her back to one on her side and gazed out of the trees. Her blue eyes widened to see red cape waving in the wind.

For a moment, the wind picked up and the hairs on the back of Erik's neck pricked. He looked about, the feeling of being watched, and he shuffled up.
His horse gave a displeased snort and Erik walked up to her, patting her back. "I know the grass isn't great, but you'll get some hay soon. I'm hungry as well."

Rain was on her knees peering out of the bushes. She wasn't afraid of him, he seemed gentle enough, but no Sirin could be sure what a human would do to them. She listened to him talk to his horse about food. She would really like a meal, but would rather pass for the night than be seen.
She eased to her padded feet and put her back against the tree, slowly edging to the other side of the wood. Suddenly, a twig snapped under her foot. She stood frozen in the deafening silence.

He heard the snap and instantly, he was silent. His horses's ears went up, and Erik leaned forward. "Hello?" He called into the wood. Under his cloak, his hand was on the handle of his blade, incase it was an Enemy, but he doubted it.

Rain closed her eyes and muttered a bit to herself. She wanted to take off running, but the horse would outrun her quickly. She turned, placing her hand on the handle of her little sword, hanging from the awkward sheath. She stepped causiously out of the trees and squinted slightly in the moonlight. She nodded in his direction, and then looked away shyly in the direction she wanted to run. Her hands quivered slowly off the sheath, taking hold of the tip of her bushy tail. Nervously, she started to twirl her fur.

His eyes settled on the Sirin that came shyly through the bushes. Instantly, he was filled with shock, wondering what a Sirin was doing in the human village.
He had only heard of Sirins, but he had never seen any himself, and he wouldn't imagine they would be alone. He knew they didn't see to fondly to humans.
He didn't move his hand away from the handle of his blade, but his grip loosened. "How long have you been here?" He tried to ask this in a friendly tone, and it came out so. He hoped that she didn't take him as a threat.

She dropped her tail, trying to think of a proper responce. "All night." She said quietly, noting his hand on the weapon.

He tried to throw in a friendly smile. "Watching me or the town?"
He could feel her nervousness from the bottom of his stomach, and it caught on to him. He took in a deep breath and eyed her silently, waiting for a response.

Rain looked towards the town, "Not you--I didn't know you were there... not until a few minutes ago." She explained, feeling the urge to twirl her fur. She debated to say more, and also to stop speaking. Glacing up, she noticed a questioning look in his eyes. "I haven't eaten for a long time." She explained quietly, looking away again.

Erik was silent for a moment, and he figured that the female sirin was rather hungry because she was so thin. "Well I was waiting until daybreak to go down to the village. I could get something for you, if you'd like." He thought maybe kindness would be the answer. Though he didn't really take the time to socialize with strangers, it didn't hurt to be nice.
He ran his hand through his hair and a slight wind picked up, brushing up against the grass, which released a soft sound.

Her first reaction was to shake her head, surely she didn't need his help. She had supplied for herself for a long time, and hunger never held her from her goals. But, if he was going anyway, why not? Since he had already spoiled her plan, and the next village was miles away... "Alright," Rain answered, "only if you want to, though..." She brushed away some hair the wind blew over her eyes.
Clouds were blowing in, and the light of the moon was now masked. The two figures stood in total darkness. Rain felt slightly alarmed, yet more at ease. Her shyness was still as strong as before.

The suddeny darkness took Erik by surprise, but he hid it with a smile. "We'll go there at daybreak. So, not to nose into private things, but... Are you lost from your homeland? I don't mean to be rude, but I've never really seen Sirins outside the mountain ranges."
He didn't know exactly how to ask what Rain was doing here. As a matter of fact, he was so suprised that she was here that he was half worried that he may be surronded by Sirins and not even know it. His uneasiness brewed up in his stomach, but he hid it well.

"I don't stay in one place often." Rain explained, twirling her fur. She wrapped it tightly around her finger nervously, "I don't want to make enemies... which prevents me from making friends."
She was starting to surprise herself, opening up to him so quickly. She couldn't see him, but she sensed him and heard his horse munching nearby. There was a strange feeling in the air, and raindrops were starting to fall.
[yay adverse weather conditions?]

Erik felt the droplets or rain trickle parts of his exposed neck and arms and he wiped them off on his cloak.
He took in the sirin with welcoming eyes and replied, "Yeah exploring is a great thing to do. If you don't want enemies, I don't see how you can't make friends." He looked upwards at the dark clouds hanging over, and then added, "Maybe we should find some shade for the rest of the night. I have a feeling the rain'll worsen."
