Rain looked up with Erik, and then behind her. "Follow me." She said simply, taking a few steps backward toward the wooded area. She turned and began to walk in as the falling rain started to come more steadily.
She made a line for the small shelter she had built before the night began, though small and low. Looking over her shoulder, she wondered if he would follow.

For a moment, Erik was hesitant, but he knew there was nothing to worry about. He grabbed his horse's rains and lead her straight behind Rain. He wondered where he was being lead, but wherever it was, he would prefer being shaded than to be outside the rain.
The rain fell down even quicker, thickening and chilling. Erik found himself pulling down his sleeves and putting up his hood, his horse shaking her head to release raindroplets weighing down her mane.

She watched him come nearer, and then continued slowly, pushing a thick branch out of the path. She led him to a tarp stretched between a few trees. She tried to slip the rope further up on the trees to make it more comfortable for Erik, for she had only needed something small for herself, but her short arms could only reach so far and the tarp was already starting to sag with water.
She slipped underneath, which was just dirt. She rarely carried anything with her, and since her food supply had gone dry, she was especially empty-handed. The paint on her face was starting to drip off her fur by the time she was in the shelter. The rain began to pelt against the thick cloth overhead as she peered out at Erik and his horse.

For a moment, Erik was hestiant. He felt incredibly sorry that she stayed outside under a small tarp. Deep down, he knew she deserved better than to stay outside in the cold rain. He knew in this cold weather, she may catch a cold.
His horse shook her mane again and looked to the side for a moment, ears perked as if watching something coming through the wood.
Erik crossed over to Rain's tent and clambered in, sitting next to her. "Do you stay here usually?" He watched as droplets of water fell off the tarp onto the damp ground. He wished he could lead her into the village, but humans didn't partake well to Sirins. "Don't you get lonley?"

She didn't answer him right off, not out of fear but shyness. "Not here, here." She answered quietly, hugging her knees with her arms. "I don't always stay in these woods, I go to other villages." She moved over to avoid being dripped on, "I do get lonely, sometimes."
The wind began to blow harder, causing the tent to snap and shudder. Rain hugger her knees tighter and shut her eyes. "What's your name?" She asked, turning to him.

Erik wanted to wince from the sound of the tent snapping. The tent wouldn't hold for long, because he knew deep down the storm was going to worsen.
He looked at a nearby tree, studying its structure, and then wiped his black hair from his face, which was wet from the rain. He looked back at her and replied, "I'm Erik." He found it difficult to tell anyone his name because he never really told anyone that. Normally he wouldn't answer that question, but he knew the girl didn't mean him any harm. "What's yours?"

She hid a smile before she replied, "It's Rain." The wind continued to howl, causing her words to almost drown in the torrents of wind and rain.
Suddenly, there came from above a cracking noise. Rain looked up quickly but it was of no use, a large branch fell on the tent, tearing the tarp and falling dangerously close to her and Erik. Rain was still too shocked to react at first, but then tried to pull the tattered tent off of herself. She found the thick fabric heavier than she realized it would be, and struggled to get out.

Erik's horse shrieked and instantly went running off. Erik moved the wet tent off of him and then turned to see where Rain was. He found the squirming Sirin underneath the tarp, spluttering and struggling. He took out his small knife and cut it to release her from it, helping her up to her feet. "Are you alright?" She was now soaked and looked miserable.
He took off his cape and wrapped it around her. "Follow me; we can stay for the night in the village. It's too cold to stay out here." He worried for where his horse could have gone, but getting Rain inside seemed more important to him.

She took the cape thankfully and shivered underneath. Reluctantly, Rain followed him, chattering teeth and all, out of the forest and towards the village. She wondered where he was taking her, and what people she hopefully wouldn't meet.

Erik led her through the brush and to the tired little village. His attention was on an old barn where he knew the old man that raised cattle there.
They soon reached it and the storm worsened, thunder hammering overhead. The more and more lightning, the more he worried about his horse.
They reached the barn and Erik knocked on the door brisky, and then waited for a response. Soon after, a frail old man answered, his eyes stumbling on them and he opened the door wider. "Erik and a friend, come inside. What are you doing out in this weather?"
Erik responded honestly, "I didn't know it would rain. Listen, can we stay here for the night?"
"But of course," The old man replied. "Stay as long as you like." He quickly left, not seeming to question Rain or why Erik came so late to his barn.
"We can stay here until morning. Hopefully the storm will lighten up," Erik told her, a weak smile appearing on his face.

Rain had silently followed Erik toward the barn, and flinched each time the thunder rolled and lightning cracked. She entered the barn and eyed the man as he left the building.
She slipped off Erik's cape and handed it back to him, "Are you going after your horse tonight?" The cracks of the barn howled with wind as Rain looked above and about.

Erik set his cape down and looked at Rain with concern. He knew the storm was only going to worsen, but he worried about the safety of his horse. However, he was concerned about Rain as well. "I'm sure she'll be alright. I can find her when the storm's over."
Deep down he worried and when he sat down, his concerns only worsened. He had never been so far from his horse for long periods of time. "Maybe I'll go check around and see if I can find her. You stay here; I'll be back soon. Will you be alright while I'm gone?"

She leaned against a stack of hay, "I'll be fine." She answered, already feeling very tired. "Be careful." She added shyly, pushing further into the crisp hay and warmth. Her eyelids became too heavy to hold open, though her thoughts were still on her situation. She hoped she was really safe. She had a small trust in Erik, though she had only just met him.

~*Forwarded time*~
When Erik returned, he was drenched, spluttering and weak. He seemed disoriented and injured. Along his side was a long gash, blood trickling from the wound. His horse was not beside him, and he sank low beside a bale of hay.
He shivered, clutching his side and silently swearing to himself. The pain in his body worsened, and when he staggered to get up, his mind became hazy. He stayed in a seated position.

While Erik was away, Rain slept. She couldn't remember sleeping so soundly or restfully, though when she awoke she was instantly alarmed, partly because she forgot where she was, but also because a large figure had just wobbled into the door, clutching it's side.
Instantly, the memories flooded back to Rain, she stood quickly and walked to Erik, now leaning against a bale of hay. She knelt near to him and remained silent, putting an arm out to him, then quickly pulling back. She stood and ran to the door, still open, and struggled to pull it closed hehind her. Out of doors, she knew not where to go, but put a hand over her eyes and ran through the puddles towards the nearest house. She crept up and peered through a window, inside she saw the elderly man from the night before.
Knocking on the pane, she waved to him, and he began to walk towards the door. Rain's eyes were large as she walked to meet him at the thresh hold. "Erik has been hurt." She said in a small voice, feeling he would instantly understand, and he did.
The man took a coat off of a nail near the door and ran out to the barn, swinging the door open easily and looking back to see Rain following at his heels.
