Rain listened carefully to the conversation between the stranger and Erik. Erik's voice, which had once seemed quiet significant, was nothing compaired to that of the other.
His laughter made her sick, and his words, angry. Though his final sentence was lulling, she didn't move. She felt tired, and her thoughts made no sense.
"We should go." She said quietly, her gaze not leaving the man's face.

He knows deep down that leaving would be a good idea. He could feel her anxiety rising, and it was soon catching on to him. His eyes did not leave the man in front of them.
"That's very nice of you to offer hospitality, but I'm afraid we're doing well on our own," Erik replied. He would do anything to keep Rain safe, and he didn't even know the man. He didn't want to go off with some weird stranger, especially one he wasn't very comfortable with.

He screwed up his face in response. "Very well. Continue blindly on your way into his traps, children." He looked at their horse for a moment, squinting at it as though looking through it, and then he turned and began to walk briskly away.

Rain looked at Erik oddly, "Are you sure we shouldn't follow him?" She felt compelled to follow him alone, by simply slipping off and running after him. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but the futher away he walked, the less sense it made.
The horse shook her mane and pawed the ground anxiously, as if waiting for something.

"You want to follow him?" Erik asked, his heart racing. "We don't even know who that man is..." He slid off his horse, however. Deep down he was compelled as well to follow him. He looked at her, and then smiled. "Let's follow him."
He patted his horse's side, and immediately she ran off towards the fields to graze, knowing her master was setting off without her, but would come back.
Erik turned back and saw the man begin to disappear amongst the trees, and he instantly followed him, hoping Rain would follow.

Ignatius walked with impatience, and it seemed as though he was heading back into the middle of the island until he turned to one side and headed around what was possibly once a mountain but was now a pile of large stones. Behind these stones was a dull beach and there was a large rowboat on the sand. Out in the sea there was a tall ship waiting. It seemed to be frozen on the water. Ignatius glanced into the boat and sighed as though he had forgotten something. Then he walked up a small path nearby, where there was a stack of crates and barrels. He began to search through them.

Rain smiled at Erik and then turned, walking briskly down the hill after the man. She didn't know if he knew she was there, but continued to remained silent.
She nearly had to run to keep up with his long strides, but managed to stay near his heels. As he neared the beach, Rain stopped and looked about, and eyed the ship in the sea. She sqinted to see it's position better, but it still seemed vague ot her blue eyes.
A rustle of fabric made Rain to turn her head, her eyes catching a flutter of red fabric passing down a small path and ran after it.

Erik eyed the red fabric and followed as well, but not running. He was slightly hesitant before contuing. He was being as quiet and sneaky as he could, but at the same time he tried to keep up with the quick little Sirin.
His friend quickly disappeared and he looked about, a puzzled look on his face. He made sure he was somewhat crouched low, eyes darting for any movement. For a moment, he heard the bushes rustle, and he leaned forward to see what it was.
He couldn't find Rain and his heart began to pound. He looked about, listening even more intently than before, wondering if she'd show up. "Rain?" He called out in a harsh whisper.

Ignatius began to talk to himself as he searched and left his boat unguarded. "Ugh, blasted barrels. I'll never get back to base at this rate."
Then he thought he heard a voice. He lifted his head and stopped. Turning his head to look over both shoulders, he went back to searching, though this time, quieter.

Rain had ran down the path in search for Ignatius, and found him sifting through cargo of some sort. She stopped short and listened to him mutter to himself and then slipped into the bushes unseen. She heard Erik whisper her name a short distance behind her but she paid no heed.
When the robed figure had turned back, Rain again froze to see his white eyes. Her curiosity left her and nervousness returned.

Erik continued looking, and then saw the figure of Ignatius and ducked low. His body stiffened and he could see Rain in the bushes slightly in front of him. He dared now whisper now, being very close to Ignatius.
He wanted to turn back, but at the same time, he worried about Rain and stayed. He quietly crawled forward, barely making a noise, and came behind Rain, coming beside her and looking at her for a moment, a pained look as if to say, 'Why did you wander off? You had me worried.'
He looked back through the bushes and his heart began to race, seeing Ignatius turn back to searching through the boxes.

Ignatius looked over his shoulder again, either just being paranoid, or having acute hearing. He muttered something else to himself; something about precious cargo and the ship having to leave soon. He didn't give any indication as to whose ship it was or whether he was even with those people or not. Finally, he took something from a chest and held it closely in his hands. He turned back to check the small boat on the beach to make sure it was still there, and then he went back to the crates to find something else.

Rain was entirely curious of his business and intentions. She didn't think it could be anything good, now that her mind had cleared. She slipped from the bushes and sneaked backwards, back down the path.
When she reached the beach once again she gazed at the boat. It was her way off the island and away from the senile old man and the creepy one in robes. She waved an arm to Erik and climbed inside.

Erik was a little hesitant at first. Going into a stranger's boat? His heart pounded, and for a moment, he thought of turning back, but he could never let Rain go out on her own; he cared too much about her.
He crept quickly after her and quietly followed her inside, the darkness of the boat sighing around them. Dusk was coming over, the sun drifting slowly below the treetops.
He wondered what would happen as he felt Rain's arm brush up against his. He listened intently for the man, and then took in a deep breath. He had one hand clasped on the hilt of his sword at all times.

From where the two were, they would have heard Ignatius approach the boat on the soft sand again. They would have felt him push it into the water and then jump in, and they would have felt the bumpiness of the sea as the little boat was rowed all the way back to the ship. Odd voices came from the ship and Ignatius climbed up a lowered ladder. The voices eventually faded and Ignatius walked away, leaving the upper deck relatively abandoned, and leaving the small boat tied to the larger one. The rope ladder had not been raised.
