She laughed and leaned back in her chair, just looking around the room and enjoying the warmth. It would be nice to stay here for a little while, just for the good food. She was a bit afraid of Necri, and his ability to do magic, and she was also afraid of his master, whoever and wherever he was. Just thinking about some strange man showing up made her want to lurk in the shadows.
She came out of her reverie scrunched in a ball, she looked around and saw Necri still staring at her. It was a bit unnerving but not unwelcome. She sat up, looked at him, and spoke: "You think the world was destroyed? Why?"

"Well, back when I was small, too small to even remember, the world started to break up from the inside out. The Master managed to save many people, but have since been locked away in the sealed area, so we're trying to save them so that together, we can reform Riiga to how it was supposed to be, but there's these things...illusions they're called-they attack the castle from time to time, but I've never met one I couldn't beat," he said. A tiny smirk could be seen on his face at the end of his little speech.
"But enough about me. What about you? Where are you from? What makes you think your world isn't an illusion?" he asked. He didn't realise how forward he was being with all the questions he asked, but he was curious about the outside world, even if it wasn't real...

"Well, it's big, for one." Rain said, looking at him perplexedly. "There are a lot of people, good and bad. I've been on boats and things, and have had adventures. I'm not really from anywhere, I move around a lot." She stopped and looked at the fire for a while, trying to think of a response to the last question. "Well, I'm not an illusion, so I don't think my world is one either."
She looked around, "What do you do all day? Just sit and eat?"

When Rain asked if all he did was sit around and eat, Necri smirked. "I wish! I spend most of the day examining the plants that grow in the graveyard and practicing my magic. If I get any time between that, I mostly read," he said as small lines of shadow seemed to crawl along the table.
"As you can see, I still need a lot of practice," he said as he slowly started to recite an incantation that brought the shadows back to where they belong. It seemed strange, but the more that he listened to this Rain, the more the idea grew on him that there was a whole world out there to explore, to experience...but he still didn't believe it entirely.

"You've never tried to leave the castle?" She stood up and looked at the doorway to the outside. "It's amazing! Come on, just for a bit?" She looked at him pleadingly, and almost sadly. It was odd that he had only been in this gloomy castle and, to Rain, weird graveyard.

"No...I mustn't. The Master was very displeased with me last time I left. Gave me a horrid scar to remember not to go past the graveyard again," Necri said as he shook his head, much like a defeated puppy. He wanted to see the outside world, if it was real, but he didn't wish to disappoint his Master and face his wrath again!
"You're free to leave, of course...unless you'd like to see the library?" he asked as he stood up. It was about the only way he could think of keeping her in the castle for a little longer, so he decided to give it a shot.

Rain stood, too, and smiled. "Alright, but I can't really read..." She was more eager to see everything on the way to the library than the library itself. "And then maybe we can look at the graveyard?"

"Alrighty then," Necri said. He wasn't too fazed by the fact that she couldn't read. He never really thought it was a necessary thing, but at least he knew how. With that thought, he stood up and lead Rain up a set of stairs and along a dark corridor, which was filled with strange and shiny trinkets. Soon enough, they found their way to a pair of massive oak doors.
"Well, here we are!" Necri said as he pushed the doors open with great effort. In the Library were over a thousand books, most of which Necri was still yet to read. Light poured in from a huge window that looked over the front of the castle's grounds, including the graveyard that was strangely green and alive compared to the rest of the vast, dark nothingness that was past it. It was clear that the window, had an enchantment on it, but Necri did not know that...for now.

Rain followed him slowly, stopping to gaze at the little treasures along the way. Her feet made a soft padding sound as she walked along. She normally could be more sneaky, but she had nothing to fear with a louder Ildemin ahead. They walked on for a while more, and Rain began to become bored of looking and not touching. When the doors came up and Necri stopped she was very excited, and stood on her tip toes to see around him.
When the doors swung open, she slid over to look through. The room was even more massive than the doors! She walked in and started to look around. Some of the books were bond by elaborately decorated covers. She touched a few and walked on, finding little things here and there on the shelves where there was no books. She looked at the window above and basked in the warm light it gave, wondering whether it was really that warm and beautiful outside. Once she had had her fill, she looked over to Necri. "This is huge!" She said, and made an attempt to smile. "Is the graveyard this big?"

"Not quite, but it's still pretty big," Necri said with a smile as he watched the Sirin's natural curiosity take over...however, the smile soon vanished as a shadow crept along the wall, one belonging to something that wasn't supposed to be here!
"Get back!" he shouted as he launched a barrage of dark tendrils at the shadow and dragged the owner of the shadow out-it was a Folang! As it struggled, Necri did his best to keep it restrained.
"Quick, open that window over there, we have to get rid of this thing!" he said as he tried to drag the snarling creature over to the window he pointed to. It wasn't welcome here and Necri would let it know!

Rain let out a cry of fright, and jumped back to let Necri defeat this new enemy. She was in slight awe of his skill, and saw how powerful he was in an art she knew nothing of. When he gave her orders to open the window, she immediately tried to carry through with the order. She pulled at the handles for sometime before it would even begin to slide open. She put one foot on the wall beneath the window's sill and began to tug on it harder. Slowly, laboriously, it opened wide enough for Necri to drag the creature through. Rain jumped back to avoid being near the strange creature.

Surely enough, Necri managed to toss the beast out. As soon as his shadow magic had run its course, he slammed the windows shut. "That...that was an illusion, a servant of the chaos," he said as he sat down in a chair an opened a book that he seemed to choose at random.
"Ah, here it is! What we just ran into was a Folang. Says here that they're weak against silver, but I guess tossing them out a window isn't too good for them either eh?" he asked as he showed Rain a page about the critters. Most of it would be just useless scribbles to her, but there was a decent picture of what they looked like. That, he figured, she'd be able to comprehend.

She tilted her head to examine the image, but it wasn't as curious as the actual beast. She looked away from the book held in Necri's hands to the window. It seemed like there was something odd about it, also because she couldn't see the Folang anywhere.
"Your master taught you this magic?" She asked, looking back at the Ildemin. "Why shadow magic?"

"Of course The Master taught me, but it's not the user that chooses the magic. It's the magic that responds to the user. In my case, the shadows respond to my requests. Shadow magic comes from Adumbra, the land of the dead...but I don't know why I can use it, just that I can," Necri replied as he closed the book and placed it back where it belonged.
"Well, that was exciting. Sure hope nothing else like that happens," he said as he stood up. At least he was feeling better now and it showed.

Rain looked up at him and then back at the vast library. It was all so new to her. She wondered if her people were able to preform magic, and whether she could learn. It wasn't as scary as it had seemed, now that she had seen it used to keep her safe. She finished looking around and focused her attention back to Necri and smiled a bit, waiting to follow him onto a different destination [I'm sorry it took me a while to reply, and I probably won't be able to get on for a week or so--I'm moving house quite a distance. You have time to think a really good plot aye? ]
