Roan reached up for the bow and found that it did indeed help with his attempt to get back up. As he dusted himself off, he looked around for a farmhouse, but there was nothing to be found nearby.
"Should we keep going this way?" Roan asked as he pulled out the map. There was a small farm to the south, but it wasn't even a dot on the horizon at the moment. Of course, Arrinor would probably point out that Roan was looking in the wrong direction, but that thought hadn't even crossed Roan's mind yet.

Arrinor looked at the map, hmph'd, and jerked his thumb at the hill thirty-five metres to Roan's left. "The farm should be just over that hill," He said, casually strolling that way.
He turned halfway there, a glimmer of mischief in his eye. "First one there doesn't lose!" Was all he could come up with, before whirling around and racing up towards the hill.

Roan folded up the map and pocketed it. "Hey, wait up!" he called out as he dashed off after Arrinor. He knew that even at top speed, his chances of beating his new companion were all but impossible, unless he used magic and there was no way that he'd do that!
Soon enough, he made his way up the hill and saw the farm below him. It was a rather large farm, far bigger than the one that Roan lived at. However, the sight of the familiar-looking barn, the quiet, grazing sheep and even the waving fields of grain proved to be too much for Roan to take. The memories welled up inside of him until he fell to his knees and cried for everything he missed.

"Hey hey no don-!" Arrinor rushed to Roan's side, but didn't get too close. Unsure what to do, he placed a hand on the boy's shoulder and shook him slightly.
Distressed but unable to do anything more, Arrinor just sat down next to Roan, waiting for it to stop.

After a few minutes of dedicated crying, Roan dried his eyes as best as he could and stood up, without even noticing how close Arrinor was to him. "Sorry...I-I guess I just got a little homesick," Roan said as he looked down at the farm. Even now, it reminded him of home. Still, he wasn't going to get back by standing around!
"We should keep going," was all that Roan said as he walked down the hill and towards the farm. Hopefully, someone would be nearby that could help them.

Arrinor stood up slowly and quietly followed Roan. He'd lost his composure back there, so he kept his distance from the boy. He'd never been to a farm before, so it all looked alittle alien.

Roan quickly made it to the fence. Upon arriving, he immediately climbed up and began jumping from post to post, in hopes that he'd either see someone who could help, or that they'd eventually reach a farmhouse with food! Even though the idea of talking to another person scared Roan a little, he was sure that he could handle it, so long as a city didn't spring out of nowhere.
However, that would have to wait. As Roan looked over at a clump of trees, three bandits stepped out! They were dressed in black from top to toe, but there was something familiar about them. Roan couldn't put his finger on it, but there wasn't any time to think about it, because they were charging at the pair without a word!
Roan quickly cast orbs of pure water at the bandits, but it only served to slow them down and get them rather wet. "Well, it's either fight or flee," Roan said to Arrinor as the bandits began to pick themselves up and charge yet again.

"Hnh!" Was all Arrinor said as he nocked an arrow as fast as he could and let it fly at a distance enemy.
Then he took out a knife and lobbed it at the closest bandit, then he drew his sword and waited for the third. Then he froze up, and the realisation hit him that Roan had just used magic. He couldn't move.

Roan continued his magical assault as best as he could, but the strain was already beginning to show. Luckily, Arrinor had managed to stop two of the bandits in their tracks, even though they weren't quite dead.
"Hey, what's going on?" boomed a voice. The owner of the farm had heard a commotion and had arrived with pitchfork in hand to see what was going on. The bandits, seeing that they wouldn't win in their current condition decided instead to run away as wordlessly as they had appeared.
"Well, that sure was wierd. Are you boys okay?" The farm owner asked as he walked up to Roan and Arrinor with a mere fraction of the energy that he had displayed moments ago. Roan was too exhausted to do more than nod, but he figured that Arrinor could take care of the negotiations.

Arrinor sank to the ground, breathing heavily. "F-f-fine..." Was all he said, staring intently at nothing. In truth, he was trying to calm himself down.
Feeling the presence of magic was one thing, but seeing it done was another. It was bound to happen sooner or later, he'd knew that when he'd met the boy, but what was he to do now?

The farm owner reached a hand down to Arrinor. "So, you boys headin' somewhere?" he asked as he looked at both Roan and Arrinor with eyes that had seen their fair share of conflict and peace over the years. Still, he seemed more trustworthy than the bandits, so Roan decided to attempt an answer.
"Y-yep...we're going to Entaro Fields, sir," was all that he managed to say. The farmer smiled. "Well, you two're welcome to stay here as long as y'need, s'long as you kin get back on yer feet," he said as he attempted to help Arrinor back up.

Arrinor shook himself out of it and took the hand. "Thank you sir," He mumbled, startled slightly at such kindness. "Who are you?"

The old man pulled Arrinor up with surprising ease. "Most folks jus' call me old man nowdays, but Tony's m'real name," Tony said as he looked over at Roan. There was something familiar about him, but neither one could say that they'd ever been formerly introduced before. Still, there'd be time for that later.
"Well, let's get you boys fed," Tony said with a smile that seemed to deepen every wrinkle on his sun-damaged skin. Roan immediately perked up at the prospect of food and gladly followed the other two to a small wooden house. Inside, there wasn't much to look at aside from an old painting in one corner, a chest of drawers, a table with a couple of chairs and two doors that probably lead to other rooms.
"Now, you boys hang tight, I'll go rustle up somethin'," Tony said as he walked through one of the doorways and started looking for some food. Roan gladly sat down and waited patiently for Tony to come back. He was clearly tired by the most recent attack and was more than glad to not need to stand up for a while.

Arrinor just went and sat in some dark corner. Something had obviously changed, but not even Arrinor could fathom it.

Roan looked over at Arrinor. "What's wrong? You've been quiet since the fight...uh...not that that's a bad thing or anything," Roan asked as he began to wonder just how much of a good idea it was to come with this guy. Then again, he had done a good job of keeping the both of them safe, so Roan quickly put that fear to bed. For now, getting Arrinor to talk a bit would be good enough. Besides, Tony would probably be a while.
