"Oh, so you know where to go? Or where we are?", asked Arrinor, his tone sarcastic as he pieced together a map from the bandit's loot. "We need to find a landmark, cause I have absolutely no idea where we are."

Roan knew that Arrinor was trying to be offensive, but he didn't care. There was an actual person willing to help him out and that was worth a little sarcasm.
"There's a clearing a little way back there...and I passed a mountain yesterday that looked like someone had scooped out part of one of its sides...is there anything like that on that map?" Roan asked as he again looked around for his staff, before he remembered that it wasn't with him, which made him look a little anxious, despite how much he tried to hide it.

Roan took a look at the map. It was well-used, but Roan could make sense of most of it. "Well, Entaro Fields is down that way. That's where my home is. I could have sworn that we were going south, but being hauled along in a bag must throw off my sense of direction a little...but if I had to guess, I'd say we're here, in Thifiel Forest. If we go south, we should find some sign of other people," he said as he traced a general path to his home, but as he did, a thought occoured to him. If they stayed on the main roads, there'd be a good chance that they'd be attacked by whoever took him away in the first place!
"Um...can we stay off the main roads for a while? There might be people still lookin' for me and I don't really want to use magic unless I have to," Roan asked as he examined the map. There wasn't much in the way of fine detail, but there were a couple of less-prominent roads that appeared to lead out of, or at least come close to, Thifiel Forest. With that information, it would theoretically be easier to get Roan back home.

"Huh..." Arrinor at the map, "Suspected as much..." he went to retrieve his sword and knife. "We'll stick to the sidelines then, go along the border." he said, cleaning his weapons before sheathing them. Then he took some supplies from the bandit's loot. "We need to head south-west to Cliffmere Farms." he turned to Roan, "Ready?"

Roan pocketed the map. "There's not much point staying here," he said as he looked away from the dead bandits and down a path that lead in a generally south-westish direction. If they were going to get anywhere, now would be a good time to get started!
After all, fortune favoured the bold, right?

Arrinor gathered his gear. Then, make-shift ruck sack on, he turned to Roan. "It's probably better if you lead the way. This land is alien to me."

Roan sighed. "I've...I've never really been here either, but I do have the map," he said as he began walking down the path. It was a pretty normal path, although Roan occasionally stopped to pick up what looked like a weed or some kind of herb, which he promptly stashed in his pockets to use later.
"I don't know how long this path goes for, but it should be one that leads out of here," he said, in a vain attempt to strike up a conversation with Arrinor. It'd be a long way and Roan knew that he'd prefer at least some dialogue along the way, even if it was the occasional yes or no.

Arrinor walked quietly more or less at Roan's side, his head bowed. "Hm? All I know is that we need to get to the end of the forest and the edge of the mountains. We'll stop at the farm and see who's home." he spoke as if what he'd said was foretold.
"Then we go south. Skimming the mountain slopes and the main road, since you don't like the road and I don't like the mountain's." he shrugged again, and said nothing.

"Oh...okay," Roan said as he continued walking down the path. There was probably a long way to go and the two of them didn't have much in common, so Roan decided to be quiet for now.
After about an hour, Roan suddenly turned to his left. "There's something out there," he said as he moved his arms into a position that would allow him to quickly cast magic, if the need should arise. Even if nothing was there, Roan didn't look like he wanted to move from this spot for now.

Arrinor stopped and looked at their surroundings. Oddly, he couldn't hear any birds. He put his hand on Roan's shoulder and placed himself between the boy and any threat there might be. He took out his Long Bow and nocked an arrow without saying anything. Drawing it back, he waited for whatever it was to reveal itself.

Roan immediately flinched when Arrinor touched him, but Roan allowed him to be in front for now. Both of them could hear a rustling in the bushes, but all that popped out into view was a common rabbit!
"Oh...it's just a rabbit....maybe that means we're close to that farm on the map!" Roan said as he stared at the rabbit. It definately looked like a normal rabbit, which meant that there'd probably be more, which also meant that there would be a supply of food. Roan of course assumed that it'd be a farm, since there was one in the general direction that they were travelling.
"We'd...we'd better get going. If there's rabbits here, there might be something bigger..."

Arrinor lowered his bow slightly, but didn't put it away. He didn't move, either, he just stared off into the distance. "White..." He said finally, then he shakily put away his bow and arrow.
"I think you're right..." He said, starting to push Roan up the path.

Roan jumped ahead when Arrinor pushed him. "I-I'd like it if you didn't do that..." he said as the two of them continued down the road. He didn't give an reason, nor did he attempt any further conversation, but he probably wouldn't have minded if Arrinor said something to break the eerie silence.
Soon enough, the sound of birds caught Roan's ear. They had to be close to something now! "C'mon! We're close to the exit now!" he said with great excitement as he dashed forward with enough energy to fill two full-grown men to the brim!
As Roan kept running, he allowed himself to show off a little by jumping over the larger roots in the path and even swinging from a low-hanging branch or two until he made it to the exit. The light from the sun was so bright now that the change from the covered leaves of the forest to the sudden break to the outdoors was too much of a shock for Roan to handle and as he closed his eyes...he tripped and fell flat on his face. With any luck, Arrinor wouldn't be too far behind, so Roan felt confident that his humiliation would not last for long.

Unfortunatly for Roan, Arrinor was seemingly anxious to get out of the gloom, and had more or less kept pace with him, darting through the trees.
He slowed when he saw Roan trip. "Impressive, I would never have been able to trip over my own feet," Arrinor commented dryly, walking over and unshouldering his Long Bow, which he offered to the boy to help him up.
