"We're fine," Talyndal replied. "Or at least, we're better than we would have if luck and this strange fellow hadn't turned out to be on our side." She perched on the bedside table. "I'm pretty sure I sprained my shoulder or worse, and I feel rather ill, but I'll be alright. You - don't move. Unless I'm wrong, a healer of some sort ought to be on the way." She glared at Granther. "There is, isn't there? And why are you still here?" The last was aimed at the bandit leader's brother. The stranger bowed slightly. "Protection, girl, is all." His mere presence was annoying. "Outside the room, then," she snapped. She had no patience, she hurt and he looked enough like his brother that she half blamed him.

"Out! I'm sure she could take you down even with a sprained shoulder." Drake said, his voice weakening with every syllable. "Healer? Yeah, I know you need one." He said, looking back at Talyn. He felt slightly giddy, though he didn't know why. The other man left the room with a brief glance over his shoulder.
Silence followed for a short while, then a few steps were heard outside the room. Muffled voices, one belonging to the odd bandit-brother, conversed quickly before a quiet rasp on the door.
[S'all I can get, wanted to let you hit 20 before I left. Congrats ahead of time!]

[Thanks ^-^]
Talyn smiled. He was in terrible condition, but he was practically jesting. Well, it was better than him swearing and moaning like most people would do. She certainly was a pain when she was in pain. She glanced at the black shaggy dog that was watching the street from the window. After a few moments he gave an odd growl, and turned towards the door. Drat.
More muffled voices. "Leave me alone." "Get out of my way." "No..." a thump "ouch... I'm telling Ma." "You wouldn't!" "Oh yes I would." "Pest." "You know you love me." "Gah." There was stomping. After that faded away, the guy's head poked in the door. "The healers here." He looked somewhat sulky as he let a skinny person in, shrouded in a dark cloak, and went back to his watch.

[So I guess this healer will need to be controlled by someone, and since you introduced him I'll let you use your creativity, though I'll mingle with him some (gee that sounded bad).]
Drake looked up at the door when the man entered, his eyebrow still raised from the commotion that had just went on. The figure moved silently with graceful steps. It stopped by the side of the bed and flipped the hood back, revealing an aged face bearing wise eyes. Drake was tense, though he didn't feel threatened. It was like waiting for an uncertain doom, minus the doom.

"Hello there, thank you so much for coming," Talyn said to the healer genially. He nodded to her; he could sense her injury was not life threatening and certainly not as worrisome as Drake’s. If he was not too wearied, after he was done with the man he would heal her as well. If not - shoulder injuries were awkward to heal naturally. She would just have to wait until he could. Focusing, without intoning the words his master had taught him so many years ago, (he learned long ago that intention and concentration were much more important) the healer started with Delving. As soon as he thoroughly examined the Champion, he frowned and dispelled the Delving. Now was the difficult part - the actual healing. The energies flowing through the room, he gathered and multiplied through the jade amulet hanging from his throat. Finally, he closed his eyes and let the energies seek each of the injuries, mainly the head and the back, that he had noticed before. Washed them away, as he focused the energies to speed the bodies healing. By the time he was finished, his wise face was pale, his shoulders slumped. Talyn quickly fetched the only seat in the place, a three legged stool with a four pronged backing. "He'll sleep after this, I think," the elderly healer said quietly. "A healing such as I performed takes energy from all involved."

Drake settled back comfortably after the healing process was over. He thanked the man quietly, for he was still rather weak. "Don't forget Talyn when you're rested, sir." Drake said honorably, motioning towards her shoulder with his eyes. "She fought rather bravely, outlasted me. And that dog of hers, he needs a nice juicy bone." He smiled and then closed his eyes, drifting off into a restful sleep.

"You'll be alright?" Talyndal asked the healer. She had not seen someone healed before and the elderly man was completely exhausted... it was worrisome to one that wasn't used to such things.
He smiled at her, wearily, and nodded. After a short time the elderly healer stood up. "I shall see to you in the morning child," he managed. "Have the skinny blond boy fetch me, he has the energy.." he blinked and smiled as if he had been struck by inspiration. "Child! Get in here."
Kelrian poked his head back into the room. Seeing the man was sleeping and apparently healthy, he came into the room - standing across the room from Talyn. He was used to people taking a disliking to him because of his brothers. Or because of his parents. "How may I be of assistance?" he asked simply. It was better than his usual tendancy to ramble and forget the purpose of opening his mouth.
The healer motioned the blond to cross the room, and when he was obeyed, he said, "I wish to... borrow... your energy. For a healing. It will cause you no harm."
The blond youth tilted his head, considering. Then he shrugged, "I don't see why not. Except that I won't be able to stand guard... which the dog is already doing a goodly job at." He closed his eyes, a weird sensation was to be felt as he was drained of energy. He sighed quietly, and watched as the healer straightened and walked over to the merc girl with a more energetic step. The healing was quick and nothing to the first one, but when it was over the girl was yawning and the elder tired again.
"Thank you, both," Talyn said quietly, as they left the room. She sat on the bedside table in a daze for a while before realizing that a blanket roll and a pallet had been dragged into the room. The blond again. He nodded to her, and left. She pushed the chair in front of the door, wedging it shut, before crawling onto the pallet and falling asleep. Perhaps she was a little paranoid, that something would happen in the Inn, but she considered herself simply careful. Her dog sprawled across her feet, a heavy weight, watching both the window and door.

It was again bright outside when Drake woke up, yet he was unaware what time it was. He sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes with his fists like a child. The room was hazy with dust as the sunlight streamed through the open windows. He could see Talyn sleeping lazily on the makeshift bed across the room, her arm hanging lazily off the side and a smile playing across her face. He laughed a little to himself, and wondered if he had looked as restful in his sleep. A large, dark blob lay in the floor next to her, it's chest moving with it's breathing. Everything seemed alright at the moment, but something else was moving in the air.
He stood up and strode slowly to a window, pushing aside a thin curtain to see who and what was moving around the street, but all he could see was thick trees and bushes that had grown up from behind the inn. He quickly turned away from the window, and looked around the room for his things. He pulled on his simple armor and slung his arrow and quiver over a shoulder, while his katana hung over the other. He slipped the chair quietly from beneath the doorknob, and opened it, the hinges giving off loud moans. He cringed slightly, but only saw the big, fluffy head of Vrral looking up at him.
"Shh!" He said to the dog, creeping out of the room slowly, "Take care of her, I'll be back soon." The dog layed it's head down again, and Drake pulled the door shut with a thin clap. He turned in the hallway and almost ran into a scrawny boy with blonde hair. Drake pulled back, being much shorter than the other, and looked into his face. He looked exhausted, and maybe a little drunk, but he payed no mind and slipped past him, heading for the stairs. He descended them slowly, covering a yawn with one hand while grasping the railing with another. He reached a large room with a bar at one end and tables laid about in the empty spaces, a few people sitting at them and looking lazily down at their hands or others who had dared turn their heads to look at Drake. He smiled a little, but turned and walked briskly towards the man behind the counter.
"Hey there," he spoke happily towards the man. Since Drake had stayed at this inn for a while now, all the workers knew who he was and what to do when he spoke.
"I'll get you some toast, two eggs?" He said groggily and kind of grumpily, looking up at him through hazy glasses.
"Yes," Drake said, and the man turned to go through a narrow doorway to his left, "Oh, but, could you tell me the room number of the elderly man who came in yesterday? It's quite important."
His back was still turned to Drake, but he could tell that his eyes rolled. "Number 10, two doors past your room," then, with a slight edge of sarcasm, he added, "sir."
"Thank you!" Drake replied, his voice bursting with cheer. He turned quickly and took up the stairs, two at a time, and quickly went past his room and another, and--wait, where was that boy in the hallway? The Champion turned and walked back towards his door, and opened it quickly, the door smacking with a loud thud against the wall. "Talyn?!"

((It would be best if you didn't assume anything about Kelrian. He's my newest character and he's rather unpredictable.))
"Is something wrong?" the girl asked irritably, after a moment of frowning at Drake through a mess of tangled curls. She was not a morning person... not at all. "The Inn on fire or something?" Talyn knew that it was neither. If it was, Vrral'd have scented the smoke and nipped her awake
"If you're looking for my brother Kel, you're wasting your time," a voice said from the hallway, a little smug. A smaller version of the blond youth that had helped them... though in his mannerisms he was much more like the leader of the bandits. He was smirking at the merc and champion. "Our big brother-"
"Our big brother is an arrogant git," Kel interrupted from behind the kid. He was grinning brightly. "And he's going to need help getting home, so get outta here you little pest and go help." The younger boy scowled, opened his mouth to say something, before apparently thinking better of it and closing it again without saying anything. He stuck his tongue out at the whole group and stalked off.

Drake looked miffed, but shrugged it off, finding that Talyn was fine. "Uh... never mind then." He said quietly, trying to avoid annoying her any more. He nodded slightly to Kelrian and stalked down the hallway to the old man's room.
"Are you awake, sir?" He called through the door. He bent over to try to peak through the keyhole, but there was already a key in the lock. He didn't hear anything from within, so he knocked on the door. Again silence followed. He shrugged and turned away, thinking it was best time he went and had his breakfast before confronting any more people.

"I think you upset your friend," Kelrian told the sleep-addled girl with a slightly confused frown. "I-ah-" he realized from the baleful glare he was receiving that it was time to make his exit as well. "I'll let the cook know you're up and in need of breakfast," Kel said before making a hasty retreat.
Talyndal blinked. They'd both left. "Am I that scary in the morning?" she asked Vrral. The shaggy black dog snorted and clambered off of her legs. "I'll take that as a yes." Tal shook her head. She was awake now, and it was far too bright for her to fall back asleep... time to get ready to face the day. Bleh.

Drake ate his food slowly, trying to waste more time until either Talyn or the old man woke up. It dawned upon him that the elderly gentleman might spare more information to the girl than to a complete stranger who lacked girlish charm. He then decided to get Talyn before trying to talk to him. When he had finished eating, Drake stood up and walked to the outside of the room he had slept in, and leaned against the opposite wall. There were shadows moving across the light spilling out from under the door, so he knew that she would soon come out.

Kel nearly ran into Drake on his way down to the kitchens, and then nearly fell down the stairs. Stumbling into the kitchen, he mumbled something barely coherent about two breakfasts and slouched into the common room.
Talyn ran a hand through her tangled hair one last time, giving up on it. She sighed and nodded to Vrral before opening the door and heading out - the dog on her heels. She was somewhat surprised to see Drake waiting outside. "...Heya..."

He smiled goofy smile, then cleared his throat and pointed down the hall, "The old man, uhm, I thought you could come with me to talk to him?" He had dug his hands into his pockets while he was talking, afraid to upset her more than he had already. "But you can eat and do whatever you want first, you know, if you want." His pride limped away sadly after he had finished talking.

"I'll come with you," Tal told him, closing the door. She ducked her head slightly. Now she wasn't only embarrassed, she felt bad. "Sorry I... snapped at you. I'm not a morning person... and loud noises when I wake up... isn't a good idea. 'm jumpy, y'see." She shrugged, not particularly good at explaining herself, as she usually didn't care whether or not she upset people that weren't involved with her pay. "I could chat with the oldster though. He thinks I look just like his granddaughter. What's up?"
