The arrival of Talyn and Vrral was relieving to put it lightly. With the assaulters distracted for a moment, Drake retalliated and attacked fiercely and quickly, slashing quickly at their armour. Beads of sweat started to form on his forehead after the third man fell, and yet they seemed to swarm like flies.
Vrral was busily sitting on a man at his left and the petit Talyn was popping men with her staff to Drake's left. A few more men fell by his blade, but it seemed there were many more to go. He skirted a few blows and threw his own, slowly but surely edging towards Talyn's side. His tactic wasn't sure, but he felt less surrounded with the skilled girl nearby.

((*falls the the floor* I'm so sorry I vanished!))
Talyn noticed Drake trying to edge closer to her, so she ducked a blow, rolled under her attacker's legs - cutting them out from under him at the same time- to meet him halfway. "Heya," she said brightly as she reached him and fended off another opponent. How a delicate-looking, young woman was so calm and almost cheerful while fighting was questionable. "This is interesting. Ow." She kicked the cause of the 'ow', and continued, "Wonder what they're after, eh?" If they were after anything in particular.

[ Perfectly fine, lol. I had to re-read the whole thread, forgot most of it XD ]
"What was--" he stopped to duck a swing of a sword and quickly toss a few blows back "--that old man you escorted carrying? Bloody cart-loads of jewels?"
At the sound of jewels, everyone in the back seemed to pause in awe, "Where?" Wide eyed they were, with swords hanging loosely from tired hands.
"You want them?" Drake said, a bit shocked. A wave of nods went through the crowd of bandits, "I, suppose, you know... we could let you have them... but first," he said, a grin and a wink towards Talyn, a shake of his now rested elbows, "A little fun!" He quickly tore a swing through an opponent, sending him crashing down to the ground in pain.

What were the bandits, children? Because at the mention of jewels, they certainly behaved a bit like children would about candy. Talyn noticed that the man Vrral was sitting on was unconcious for some reason and that the large black dog returned to her side.
She wasn't sure about everything the old man was carrying. He certainly did have some jewels, but not enough to cause this kind of ruckus...? Talyn caught Drake's wink, so when he attacked one of the bandits, she launched her self at another one. Literally launched, as she used Vrral as a springboard and took out her chosen bandit with a swipe from above. She landed in a clumsy roll, and tried not to laugh. That was fun, she couldn't believe it worked... The landing needed practice though, her shoulder stung a little. Er, a lot. But she could still use it.

Drake looked over to his partner with a bit of worry, she landed hard and awkwardly. He hoped she did not injure herself too badly. She soon stood back up and seemed fine, so he went back to the endless swarming of theives.
Was this some sort of gathering? Is this bandit-land? He couldn't figure it out, and he was too distracted to get any real ideas together. A sharp pain went from the back of his head to the core of his brain, then a dull feeling swept over him as the terrain turned to darkness.

At first Talyn didn't see Drake fall. She fought on, turning the height disadvantage into an advantage as she was so used to doing. Someone managed to grab her, and she was immobile for a frightening moment before Vrral tore the man's throat out. He was decidedly more viscious than he had been before. She wasn't sure why, unless... She turned abruptly. Yes, Drake was laying unconcious. A bandit was standing over him. She threw a knife at him to distract him, and motioned Vrral to defend the fallen man.

Drake felt a heaviness on his chest. He tried to open his eyes, but the all-too-sudden thunk on the head had pulled a fog over his brain. A sticky warmth settled into the back of his head. The pain seemed to refresh his senses. The fog lifted and he was able to open his eyes. A large, very dark shape filled his first blurry view. Four blinks later had revealed Vrral, his hindquarters planted firmly on the ground and his front paws on his chest. Drake lifted an arm and gently pushed Vrall off, and he then stood up on his feet.
His equilibrium was still extremely unsteady, yet he drew out his bow and easily thread it over the string. He aimed it and plucked another bandit out of the scene. He hoped he could knock out the few remaining with the little strength he had left. He shot a quick glance in Talyn's direction and saw that she, too, was looking worn out. His bow sprung and another man fell, leaving only four left to knock down. Drake blinked and noticed it looked more like eight, and then four again. He shook his head to clear his mind, but it only made the ache hurt more.

Unfortunately, the next man that Talyn came across was a better fighter than the other bandits that she’d fought so far. She fought him off frantically, but he didn’t seem to be even trying. He frowned at her, and said calmly, “If you give me the stone, we’ll leave.” She had no idea what he was talking about, and gritted her teeth when she jarred her shoulder blocking. “The old man had it when he left, and when he got here he didn’t. You were the only other person he was in contact with.” Were these bandits following them the entire time? “Just hand it over, girl.”
“What the…” she began, and then glared at him coldly, “You didn’t hurt him did you?” She’d gotten her second wind, perhaps. In any case, she wasn’t having as much trouble with him now. And he looked slightly worried. “He’s still alive, if that’s what you mean,” he replied, uneasily. They had roughed the oldster up a bit, but … even he didn’t care to stoop as far as to kill harmless old men. But the black diamond, it was one of the largest he’d ever seen. It was priceless…

He heard the voices vaguely from his position across from Talyn, but Drake couldn't make out what they were talking about. Another opponent fell with a twang of his bow, leaving him only one more, but--wait? Where did he go?
He quickly looked over his shoulder, saw a dark motion, and jumped out of the way. A thud landed inches from where he was. He slipped out his Katana and hacked at the outstretched arm. A shout of anger came from the ugly face. "You asked for it!" Drake said, slashing again at his attacker. He moved much more quickly than the tubby fellow, but his blows didn't seem to harm him very badly. His armour was thick, and his will to take Drake down was even thicker. "Don't you like me, buddy?" He asked sarcastically, putting a good distance between himself and his large assailant. His weak condition made hand to hand combat extremely tiresome. He pulled out his bow and the last two arrows. He put both into the big man easily, causing him to stagger and fall.
Drake dropped his bow and fell to his knees. He blinked, but couldn't make out what his eyes could see. Moving blobs flitted across his plane of view, then disappeared. He leaned over on all fours and closed his eyes. His heartbeat throbbed in his ears, loud but wavering.

It seemed the man noticed that he was the only one of the bandits left standing. That was startling, considering how many of them there were. However, the other man was down for now. It was just the girl, and however fast she was she was tiring quickly. He smirked as his last blow knocked her weapon from her hand, and her to the ground. She glared up at him. "Now, hand over the diamond, girl, and I'll let you live," he said, his voice mock-friendly.
"I have no idea what you're talking about!" she complained loudly, trying to inch towards her bladed staff without his noticing.
His eyes widened at that, and he stared at her suspiciously for a moment. "I do believe you're telling me the truth. How incredible." He kicked the weapon out of her reach, and glanced at his fallen fellows. "Pity, really, that you injured so many of my men." And killed. Don't forget killed. "You would have made an interesting addition to our band... but I think there would be a riot..." He sighed, dramatically, and walked away. He chuckled quietly when he heard her snarl that she would never be a brigand anyhow.
"That guy," she grumbled, grabbing her staff and stumbling over to Drake. He was hurt and dazed. "Hey, heyla," she said softly. What should I do? she wondered. She never had to deal with an injury before, and a crack to the head... she winced. "C'mon, we hafta get somewhere more secure," she whispered. "There might be more and neither of us are in any state to fight." Why did that guy leave us alive? she wondered, confused. Eeh.. if he can't walk... well, Vrral can carry me, he might be able to handle Drake.

Drake moaned in reply to Talyn, trying to move his arms to push himself up. They felt like rubber that was glued to the ground. "Don't--worry--" He said, struggling with his arms, he slipped one underneath himself and tried to push. Nope, sorry. Ain't happening.
He felt embarrassed most of all, falling out before the girl did. He didn't want her to go out of the way for his mistake. "Sorry for this..." He said.

"Nothing to apologize for," Talyn replied calmly, wrapping an arm around him, and another around Vrral. She could do this, well probably. He was a lot bigger than her. "I think my dog could carry you," she tried to explain, but it sounded funny. What she should do was run and get someone to help, but she couldn't leave him. He was hurt, and there was still at least one of the bandits around. Ah, well. Camping here was not an option, so...
"Girl!" she froze at the voice, it was almost exactly like the one that she'd heard, but vaguely different. "Dammit, I'm sorry my brother..." a young man stumbled over to them, and gave the injured man a once over and sighed. He didn't give his brother's bandit's a passing glance. "I'll get you guys to the Inn and tell them you left the village," he whispered. "Unless you object?"

Drake smiled innocently as Talyn put her arm around him, then wiped his face clean as a blackboard when she spoke again. Another voice added to the mixture after a small pause. Drake opened his eyes, but all he saw were dark blurs against the blue sky. The man seemed suspicious.
"You take me, and let my friend walk behind you." Drake said, trying to focus on the face of the stranger, "I never trust people I don't know, but I don't want to be putting so much trouble--" His eyes rolled back in his head, consciousness leaving him.

Talyndal let the young man take Drake, but she watched him suspicously. The skinny youth grinned impishly at her - hey that was her thing! - and half picked the other man up. It was difficult, but he managed. "You're too tall," the girl mumbled. He was exactly a foot taller than her, and it hurt her neck to look up at him. "I know," the stranger said too cheerfully. "Isn't it annoying? Ah... make sure your dog doesn't bite me. He looks like he wants to." The man almost dropped the unconsious man and grumbled under his breath. At least they were almost there. It'd be awful if his brother came along about now, they were so close... luckily it was only one of his goons.
"He's dead," he said brightly to the confused man. "The girl here decided she'd like to join my brother. But first I need to hide the body. Go clean up the mess back there." He snickered weirdly when the man ran to do his bidding. That kind of thing was so fun. Tal gave him a bemused look. A strange, strange fellow. "Hey don't drop him!" she hissed when his grip slipped again. "Sorry I'm not tough, like my brother. Or this fellow here."
She opened the door for him and they were inside. Blank stares followed them, then Granther grabbed her arm. "Did they get it?" he demanded. She narrowed her eyes at the elderly man. "I think we need talk soon," she said quietly.

In his current state, Drake couldn't tell if he was soundly asleep on his bed or being drug by a good guy disguised as a bandit. He did feel a soft thump of pain on the back of his head every time his heart beat now and then. It was almost refreshing, and it kept him in the real world. He didn't feel like moving on just yet.
They left a small trail of blood, starting from the place Drake fell and ending on a real bed inside a slightly familiar inn. He could feel time pass by him, but not his arms or his legs. His thoughts were mere shadows of things he'd done in the past. The shadows started to turn into figures, and the figures started to move. Suddenly, he recognized one to be Talyn, looking down at him.
"How are we?" He asked, a distracted smile on his face. He cringed after a twinge of pain pass down his spine. "I'm not so good, I'm hoping you faired better?"
