Nari paused. He watched Aquis from the corner of his eye, not knowing if he was comfortable with this kid who could control nature's own so calmly and subtly. It made him feel awkward and he didn't trust Aquis, but spiders are spiders and have to be removed, so he followed.

Aquis frowned as he knelt in the snow. "Hmm remains of poison. The spiders must either be feeding off the roots, or more likely, have bitten the trees."
He continued walking and he suddenly felt his stomach lurch as he dropped into a hole. A hole that must've been hidden by snow and, possibly webbing.

Nari went to Aquis as he saw him slip slightly into a hole. He rushed to the edge and peered over, peering into the darkness.
"Uhh... Are you okay? I can't see anything in there."

Aquis popped his head out of the hole. "Peachy, now come on, this is exactly what I was looking for."
He lit a lantern that seemed to come from nowhere. "Never leave home without a lantern Nari." he said and peered down a tunnel at the bottom of the hole. "Come on wolf boy."

"And where am I gonna put a lantern?" Nari asked, dropping down and peering into the darkness, seeing ahead of the lantern's light with his night vision. "This place is... creepy. Is it a lair?"

"Spider lair. The Queen's somewhere in this little maze of tunnels. Gotta find her, and try and reason with her." he explained and walked down the tunel. It was just high enough for him to walk, albeit slightly hunched over.
"Be careful of webbing Nari."

Nari just nodded and followed Aquis as best he could, though the webs did have a habit of clinging to his fur. He would shudder and stop to brush them off when he did, as it was a dreadful feeling for him.
"Reason with her?" Nari repeated suddenly. "You mean... talk to her...?"

"Right..." Nari muttered, somewhat doubtfully.
They went deeper and deeper, twisting and turning, and not encountering much else.
"I don't like this," he said after a while. "It makes me feel... suffocated... Can we hurry up?"

"It's alright, the tunnel's are getting wider, and higher." he said, now able to walk fully straight, though with his head grazing the ceiling. "You have to remember, the queen's larger than us. So you won't be getting cramped for much longer."
The tunnels were slowly getting larger, but it was happening quite steadily. And then they came to a large cavern with multiple tunnels leading off from it. Of course the question was, which to take.

"Yeah, good," Nari said, though the fact that the queen was bigger than them was not good at all.
Then he realised they were at an intersection and he looked down each one in the gloominess.
"I'm gonna guess you have no idea which way to go?" he asked. He pointed to the middle one after a moment. "That one smells worst. Spiders would be down there, right?"

"Well than that's the way we got to go wolfie." Aquis said and started down that tunnel. Nari had been right, there was a distinct smell down here. And his ears were picking up the sounds of scuttling legs and clicking mandibles. "So wolf boy, how exactly do you come to be here anyways?"

"Err, stop calling me wolfie," Nari muttered. "Or I'll have to think up a name for you." He threw a grin at Aquis and as he was following, he realised he was asked something.
"Here? With you? In this hole? In the forest? How... was I born? Waddya mean?"
