"Hmm, not many in this area." Aquis said and looked up at one and moved on. "If you have something to say about me being a mage, please speak."

Nari followed him with his hands in his pockets. He watched the Ildemin's every move carefully, wondering how he communicated with plants merely by touching them or looking at them. He walked up to another tree that looked fine to him. He put one hand against the trunk. Nothing. Turning back to the other boy, he cleared his throat.
"I don't feel so well. Is there something in the air here? Something I can't smell or see?"

"Probably-ah thank goodness." Aquis said and touched a tree thatwas alive and listened to it. "Hmm, it says... there's a poison of some sort. It came her about a month ago and the trees have been dying since. IT has no clue where it's coming from."
Aquis turned to Nari. "But i says the wolf human seems to smell it. Nari, do you think you could sniff out the source?"

"I can taste it," Nari said. "That means I can feel its affect, but I can't smell it and track it. I can feel myself grow dizzy when I make an attempt to breathe it in. Posion smelt is poison dealt." [Hey, that rhymes!]
"But if you really want me to, I could try it anyway..."

Aquis listened to the tree again. "Hmm it says that the poison has only affected flora so far. Odd that some fauna are being affected."
He cried out in alarm and shock as a number of large, black spiders appeared. About as large as dogs perhaps, with clicking pincers, dripping venom and dozens of red eyes. "Are these maybe the source of the poison?" he asked both Nari and the tree.
(yes)

Nari stepped back and whipped out his sword, baring his teeth and then calming himself a moment later.
"Yeah... Maybe. I've never seen spiders that big but the ones that live in caves up north are poisonous. Do they attack plants, though? I mean, wouldn't they have to feed on the roots here?"
He stayed well away from them, looking as though he wanted to chop them all up. He didn't seem to like them in the slightest.

Aquis scanned over them. "Hmm magical mutation. No they don't feed on the roots, there's something going on here. Attack them if you like."
The Ildemin hadn't drawn a weapon yet, and wasn't going to until the spiders attacked. A moment later both spiders charged at Nari, spitting gobs of venom ahead of them.
(they aren't super strong, but not immensely weak either.)

Nari skirted around the venom and cut diagonally down on one, hoping it couldn't dodge the difficult angle of his slash.

The blade struck the spider, but stuck in its armour, not killing it. Its partner screeched and jumped at Nari, taking advantage of this.

Nari bared his claws and slashed madly at the approaching spider. With one foot he kicked at the spider pinned to his sword.

The spider that was jumping was thrown away, but wasn't killed. The spider with the sword stuck in its armour suddenly had roots grabbing onto its legs and pulling it, giving Nari a little help to pull out his sword.

Nari yanked out his sword with a sudden pull and immediately swung it again at the same spider while it was restrained.
"Was that your magic?" he asked between breaths.

(yanked his sword out? LOL LOL. Sorry)
Aquis nodded. "Yes. If it frightens or puts you at unease then you may leave when this battle has ended." he said as roots grabbed onto the other spider's legs. Its companion had been killed by Nari.

[It's an Australian term ] Nari just nodded and then concentrated on the other spider, now cutting straight down at it as it was now stuck in the one spot by the plants.

The spider squealed and collapsed, dead. "There, dead. Come Nari let's find their lair."
