Q: Does every character in a thread need to be in the same place?
A: No. A single thread may have several characters in different places, but they need to be relatively close to one another (not in a different country) and there must be chronological consistency. See the below question for chronological guidelines. As an example:
Member1 is in the hallway of a castle.
Member2 is in the same hallway of the castle.
Member3 is in the throne room.
Member4 is on the battlements.
Member1 enters the throne room.
Member2 ascends to the battlements... Etcetera.
Q: Do posts have to be in exact chronological order?
A: No. If you want, you may, in your post, respond to things in the preceding post as long as it doesn't conflict with what's already happened. As an example:
Exact order:
Member1: "That'll be 5 coins," she said. She took the money and gave the pumpkin to Aaron. "See you." And she left.
Member2: Aaron went to say thanks, but she had already left.
Overlapping order:
Member1: "That'll be 5 coins," she said. She took the money and gave the pumpkin to Aaron. "See you." And she left.
Member2: Aaron nodded, handed her the coins, and took the pumpkin with a word of thanks.
The first example shows the second post beginning after the first post left off, whereas the second example shows the second post beginning, chronologically, partway into the previous post. Both are acceptable.
Member1: "That'll be 5 coins," she said. She took the money and gave the pumpkin to Aaron. "See you." And she left.
Member2: "Sorry, but I don't have that much money," Aaron said, shrugging.
This example is incorrect. The second post contradicts what happened in the first post.
Q: Where is information about ****?
A: I encourage everybody to search the wiki [there is a link in the main header of the forum, as well as in my signature] for Riigan information, but that doesn't mean you can't ask me or another staff member. If you know something isn't on the wiki and you think it could be added, use the Request Form on the wiki.
Q: Where can I get an idea for a thread?
A: If you're struggling to find an idea for a role-playing situation, ask me or another staff member for an idea, but give some suggestive pieces of information as to what sort of plot you want. Eg. Warfare, epic, simple, stealthy, out in the wild, in a certain city, involving a certain person, etc.
Q: Can my character be part dragon/have a pet dragon/turn into a dragon/have anything to do with dragons?
A: I ask that you avoid any mention of dragons at all. Dragons are not an animal in Riiga. Rather, they are beings, as there are only two of them in existence. To talk about dragons is to talk about these two people, not the species of animal. See treijim.penscribbles.com/Wiki/Gods/Magic/Dragons.html for more information.
Q: Am I able to change the location of an RP?
A: To move to another subcategory or category within the same RP, simply do the following.
Your old thread will be moved to the Completed Thread category and altered accordingly in its title. It's NOT necessary to change the location of the thread to the location of the RP content, but it can help under some circumstances. You can post a world-wide trip within a single thread.
Q: What is Riiga's level of technology?
A: Riiga is preindustrial in all areas, so there is no steam power and very little gunpowder. Both are against the law in all human areas. There are no guns of any kind, and only pirates in Estall Bay use gunpowder in their cannons in their ships. For more information, see treijim.penscribbles.com/Wiki/World/Technology.html
Q: How much flora/fauna (flowers and animals) can I invent in my thread?
A: As long as you're consistent, reasonable, and true to the type of area you are in, we don't mind what you invent in order to give your posts a little extra depth. Inventing a small rodent is reasonable, whereas inventing a thundering herd of bat-winged carnivorous elephants is out of the question. For more information, see treijim.penscribbles.com/Wiki/Nature.html
Q: Where exactly do I post my character?
A: From the main page, go to Creating Your Character and look for a +New Thread button. Paste the template into the Message area of your post, and then follow the instructions as normal.
Q: Am I notified of replies to my posts?
A: Yes. Bookmark the threads you wish to follow by going into them and clicking "Bookmark", just above the miniprofile. Go to your profile, select Bookmarks next to Modify Profile, open the preferences, and change the notification type to whatever you want.
Q: What do I do if I want to make changes to my character?
A: There is a Sub-Board within Creating Your Character called Character Changes. Use that.
Q: Can I post outside of towns?
A: Yes. You don't have to start threads within sub-boards. You may start an RP in what's called the Wilderness.
Q: What is Wilderness?
A: Wilderness is when you enter a piece of land, but not a town or building. For example, if you start a thread in North Nidonn in East Riiga, it's in Wilderness. If you start a thread in Leotyne Castle, in North Nidonn, in East Riiga, it's in the castle. Make sure you post accordingly.
Q: I know what kind of fighter my character is going to be but I don't know where to situate them!
A: Below is a list of recommended starting places for certain types of fighters:
Swordsman: Anywhere under control of The Guards in Central Riiga or Jevithem Castle > North Nidonn > East Riiga.
Archer: Trelinia Castle > North Nidonn > East Riiga OR Shuptalxia > Jindiara > West Riiga, if your character is a Keid.
Heavy armour: Laurondirin Castle > North Nidonn > East Riiga.
Cavalry: Phedailin Palace > North Nidonn > East Riiga OR Venzet > North Ideitess > West Riiga.
Fire mage: Kartara > Tekrikri > Central Riiga.
Water mage: Alacas > Huirnon > Central Riiga.
Earth mage: Kartara > Tekrikri > Central Riiga.
Ice mage: Hluff > Tekrikri > Central Riiga. [For Sirins]
Bandits/Brigands: Scarcus > South Tasif > Central Riiga OR Anywhere > South Ideitess > West Riiga.
Pirates: Anywhere > Estall Bay > East Riiga.
Raider: Wilderness > South Tasif > Central Riiga.
Assassins: Anywhere > North Nidonn > East Riiga OR Wilderness > Huirnon > Central Riiga OR Furanaio > Jindiara > West Riiga OR Amaiga > North Ideitess > West Riiga
Mercenary: Venzet > North Ideitess > West Riiga OR Nelvi > South Ideitess > West Riiga OR Wilderness > North Nidonn > East Riiga.
These are not entirely concrete, but they are the best starting places for the above types. Don't feel pressured to follow the list. In the end, it comes down to your own discretion.
More to come.

Q: Am I able to change the location of an RP?
A: To move to another subcategory or category within the same RP, simply do the following.
- End your current RP by making a post saying "Moved to <New Thread Title>". Linking to the new thread is not required. You may use a similar title to the previous thread.
- Start your new thread in the new location saying "Continued from <Old Thread Title>".
Your old thread will be moved to the Completed Thread category and altered accordingly in its title. It's NOT necessary to change the location of the thread to the location of the RP content, but it can help under some circumstances. You can post a world-wide trip within a single thread.
