Cliff can be very spoiled and stubborn at times. He believes he's very mature. Consequentially, he has trouble identifying with his peers, because he wants to prove himself to be an adult. Cliff is gruff with anyone he's not extremely close with. However, he can be very pleasant with people who don't treat him as a child. He doesn't like people seeing him having fun; he'll quickly stop whatever it is he's enjoying if someone sneaks up on him.

His parents are nobles from Vilenden. Cliff was very sickly when he was an infant. As a result, his parents grew extremely overprotective, even into his adolescence. This caused Cliff to grow stubborn, and eventually he ran away to prove them wrong.
He journeyed to Belynsia through Nighen. In the Gutalia mountains he passed through Nighen. A group of concerned travelers accompanied by a priest (Velisies) tailed him from a distance. When the boy began to be lured into the ruins by a unknown malevolent force, they intercepted him and took him back to the chapel Nighen. This is where he has stayed for the past few months with the priest, Velisies.
Here Cliff started becoming fascinated with the ancient texts and began to enjoy reading. He developed an obsession to find a missing piece of Dutri.
