For these two things?
Photoshop, and A Website.
I'll be dealing with a digital program to create video games when I'm older, would Photoshop be the right program for me?
And the Website is to practice my coding, I can do what a lot of aspiring story-tellers are doing. Making a website to identify their characters and create a 'novel' per-ce, with them. Like writing a chapter every so often relating to the storyline.
Thanks!

I suppose you could use Photoshop to draw out some concept images for video games, but it's not really a program that you can use to make video games. PS is mainly for digital drawing and photomanipulation. I suppose if you wanted a program to start teaching yourself the basics (and I mean basics) of making video games, Flash is a place to start. It's a simple program that produces simple things, but you can click here to see some fun movies and games made by it. Be warned: the link goes to a Japanese site. And for your website, I suppose you're talking about a site like this one. Where you can put up all your characters and post their stories for people to read? If that's your goal, I say go for it. It sounds like a great idea. But as for practicing code, I know very little. I have a friend who creates some amateur websites and I know that he gets a lot of help by going to other sites that he likes and looking at how those sites are made via View > Source (on IE) or View > Page Source/ctrl+U (on Firefox). Hope some of that helped you, mate. :3

Merci, and thanks, a Japanese site is even better than an English site~!
I can practice my horrid Japanese!
And I'm not that good at HTML, but why waste twenty dollars on a site that will only look horrid until my HTML coding gets better, merci for the site link!
I'll check these things out when I have a bit more time. Again, merci. =]

*sigh* Drawback is, I heavily dislike giving my address and Identification so easily. Thanks though. =]

Oh- let me find you another link then. I know that there's more site like that one out and about-- I've seen them. I just need a couple of minutes to find them again. EDIT: Here's another site for you. This is a bunch of short stories done by just two authors for everybody to read and review. I havn't personally read any of the stories so don't hate me if the content is poor. Mais la première histoire commence en France. I figured you might be interested in that, mon ami. ^_^

Okay, time for my five cents. Photoshop is a great program and despite what verbed says it gets used as a step in the making of games VERY extensively. Concept art is one place it's used in games, the other is creating textures. There are two parts to making a game, the coding and engine - these are the bits that tell the computer what to do. Most Game code is written in C, C+, C++ and the like picking up some programming/IT is a good idea if you want to do this. The second part is the Art. Models (3d representations) of characters and environments are built in a 3D package such as 3D Studio Max, Maya or XSI. Textures for these models (the colour, the bumpyness, how glossy the thing is and other aspects) are most often handled with Texture maps. A Texture map is a square, flat image ranging from around 512x512 and up that is painted or manipulated in photoshop or a similar program. So yeah... I guess what I'm saying is photoshop is used as a part of making games. If games is what you're interested in getting into look into courses in 3D animation; here's one provider to get you started. aie.edu.au/Another good starting point for games is level editors, notable games with level editors are Unreal (Unreal Ed) and games in the Elder Scrolls series such as Morrowind.
