"Yes Sir!" Samuel yelped, awkwardly collecting one of the larger bows from an arsenal bucket along the wall. "Uh sir? Do you have any-" Before he could say 'silver arrows' Amos held out a handful before him. Thanking him, Samuel half climbed up onto the terrace, and looked for the biggest head he could find.

All below the wall, Folang and other small creatures crept from the darkness and began sending all kinds of dangerous projectiles up towards the fortress wall. The small group Amos and his men aimed for fell in numbers as the sheet arrows swept through them. At this, Folang archers came seemingly from nowhere and set loose lit arrows upon the battlements, and the human soldiers ducked behind the stone defences, readying more arrows.
In the sky, winged creatures with single horns and strong talons circled and screeched, and as the heavy rain fell they came in and swooped at the men, lifting some straight off the wall and dropping them down. It quickly became apparent that those men did not have Daesdikhin's acrobatic skill. One of these winged creatures spotted Samuel and judged him as easy prey, so it swooped down with great speed.

Amos ducked swiftly behind the battlements as the Uniphon's swooped. "Men! Ready your arrows, aim for the Uniphon." They immediately all fired for the flying predators and they dodged all arrows with ease. Amos spotted a uniphon swooping for Samuel. Without thinking, he draw his sword and leapt towards the beast, bringing his sword down on it as flew down, cutting through its skin and feathers. It wailed in pain, hobbling to its feet only to receive a jagged sharp blade to the chest. Amos withdrew his sword, dripping with black inky blood. He looked at Samuel briefly before ordering the men to loose fire at the scattered Folang.

As if a statue suddenly, Samuel's head creaked to the dead beast, to the barking Amos, before back to the Uniphon, then suddenly coming to life as he found a bow in one of the weapon buckets along the wall, and hastily readied an arrow. Amos seemed to know what he was doing, so Samuel accepted the order and fired into the sky, succesfully annoying the Uniphons if anything.

Daes wasn't on the ground. He was up on the wall, standing by the stairwell entrance. He motioned to the closest soldier, which happened to be Samuel.
"You! Help me hold them off at the base level! They're trying to get through the stone door!" And he almost flew into the darkness and down the stairs, barely waiting for Samuel to realise what had been said.
The Uniphon pulled back a little, flying into the low clouds to hide from the arrows, but the Folang still poured from the dark valley stretching yonder. From the chill mist, and surrounded by large Folang, a figure began to emerge from the darkness. This biped wielded an axe almost as long as his giant stature. He came forth so that the men on the battlements could see him, but he moved no nearer. From beneath a solid metal helm, dark eye holes stared mindlessly. Daesdikhin waited downstairs for Samuel.

Amos watched as Daes appeared for a moment and said something to Samuel then disappear almost as fast as he appeared. As Amos looked down into the valley again, he had realised the Uniphon had pulled back into the heavier clouds and fog, but there only to be twice as many Folang that poured out of a hidden valley that twisted into a forbidden land. Not only that but a giant figure loomed forth from the mists, wielding what appeared to be a giant axe. Amos stared blankly as he realised what it was.
"Soldiers!" Amos yelled over the wind and rain, "They have a Giakdon. But aim for the folang, kill as many as you can!" With that Amos and all the other archers returned to firing their arrows at the Folang, instead of the Uniphon which were now out of range.

Clumsily, Samuel stampeded down a tower, to meet up with Daes at the 'stone door'. Before he could ask where the Folang were, one of them made a startling leap towards his face. Clashing silvered-steel against teeth, Samuel threw the beast off, to prepare for the likely push they were about to make.
[Clueless as to details of the stone door ^-^;]

[It's fine]
Daes grabbed the Folang by the neck in mid-flight, and suddenly both of them vanished. For a minute, Samuel was alone in the dark gateroom with the stink, the humidity from the rain outside, and the echoing sounds of conflict outside. Then Daes was there again, appearing like an inverse shadow, and the hand that was holding the Folang was bloodied. The Folang was nowhere in sight.
He met eyes with Samuel. "They are like bloodthirsty werewolves," he said, and it seemed a mild attempt at mid-war conversation if anything. "It seems the archers are holding off the ones at the door." He motioned to a large stone door to his left, intricate beyond belief and grasped by massive ropes that rose into the shadows and gears above.
"But I lied to you. There are no dangers down here. The battle above was growing dangerous. Clearly, you are not experienced enough. The Enemy has sent a Giakdon against us. Though it can do little damage to this wall, our arrows will only bother it like flies bother you. We have to break through this gate when it draws near so that I can defeat it with my own hands..."

Folang were slowly but surely falling at the hands of arrows that flew about the dark, cloudy valley. Amos had killed not as many as the other fine archers among the group atop the grand wall as his skills lay within the sword and close combat. Despite this, his attempts were more than adequate. As he was firing at Folang randomly and the archers were seemingly fighting back the folang, killing more as their bodies littered the valley, the Giakdon began walking slowly towards the wall with axe in hand like he owns the place.
Seeing this, Amos ran through the door into the guard tower and down the stair well. He met up with Daes and Samuel at the bottom. "The Giakdon is moving towards the wall now. I thought you could do with some extra help." He smirked at Daes. "Not you, so much. For Rock"

His brain catching on to Daes speech, and finding insult, he didn't have time to speak before Amos rushed in to double the grief. "Sirs!" Samuel exclaimed defensively. "I am as much a soldier as any of these men! If you think otherwise I'd... like to... prove it...?" His words trailed off under the ever imposing glare of Daes. "So. About the Giakdon sirs? Uh... permission to ask." He shrugged, taking the permission for himself. "Does the garrison possess a Ballistae?" He queried, turning to Amos. Yet glancing back at Daes to deliver a: "Sir, could you stop staring at me sir?"

"Staring is wide-eyed," Daes said. "I'm merely watching." He turned to Amos. "I do not believe we have any such weapons, correct?. This fortification relies on manpower. Besides, if the Giakdon caught wind of us possessing such a thing, this battle would be all the more terrible. We use only men so The Enemy continues to underestimate us."
He went to the stone door and put his ear to it. "It's drawing near, but it's not near enough yet. When it's before the door, we'll have it opened and overwhelm it with surprise. Amos and Samuel, you will have to try and attack its calves [the muscle]. Though it's a giant, it moves faster than you might think, so do not get stepped on. I will deal with my own things."

Amos leaned against the wall closest to him inside the gatehouse. He stared at the front stone gate as if expecting it to smash open with a Giakdon standing there. But he knew it was stronger than that.
"There are more things to worry about, Rock, than a Trueblood sta- watching you." Amos said indirectly, now looking at the ground. "Yes, Daes is right. We don't use siege equipment because we can't risk anything above a Giakdon, and quite personally, I don't really want to meet face-to-face with whatever else they have in there.

Confused as the Amos meaning of 'in there', Samuel chimed in curiously: "Sir? Isn't that just the fortress gate?" A resounding boom snapped Samuel, weapon and all, to attention.

Suddenly, Daes ran to the wall and yanked at a cord. A faint ringing echoed above, and the gate began to grind slowly upwards. Mud poured over the already filthy dirt and more and more rain shot in through the large doorway. Daes ducked under the gate as it was still lifting and broke into a blinding sprint for the giant standing precariously close to the wall. Though the giant Giakdon was nowhere near as high as the fortress wall, it was perhaps four times taller than Daes, who was quite tall himself.
The Giakdon raised its massive axe and let it loose in a downward motion, but Daes avoided it easily and continued on running up the hill and eventually vanished over the top. The Giakdon snorted from beneath its steel helm and turned its head to look at Amos and Samuel, standing down there in the gateway. Gradually, its body became pincushioned by silver arrows.

Amos quickly drew his jaggered silver sword as Daes sprinted over the hill and ran for the Giakdon's legs. It brought it's over-sized axe down for another sweep, but Amos jumped skillfully aside as the swings were slow and easily foreseeable. Amos swung his razor blade at the giants calf, jumping backwards as it turned slightly, almost stepping on him.
