With a coughed profanity, and more of lucky than skilled swing, Samuel had managed to embed the silver blade in the ankle of the beast as it flew at him. Although they had both toppled over, as it's kick was ruined, but it crashed into him. Reaching for his trusty (albeit un im-bued) axe, Samuel swung it solidly at the creatures chest, while he moved the sword like a saw in an attempt to get it free from the bone it was stuck in. If it were any other time, one could be disturbed by the squelches and bone crunching sounds come from Samuel's position.

The Folang cried out both as the silver sword struck its ankle, and as Amos's sword clipped its arm and left a moderate gash. It rolled to its feet as it tackled Samuel but found an axe coming, so it ducked under it and tackled Samuel by the legs, digging in thick and strong teeth like a hyena. It no longer cared about Amos, as the man would surely be watching the flying beast coming down at him from the sky.

Amos was indeed noticing the flying beast just now. He moved his sword back behind him, getting ready to cut the beast down. When the beast was near enough he released his sword, aiming straight for the center of the beast.

Ripping his sword from the beasts leg, and ripping said leg clean off, Samuel stumbled backwards and landed square on his behind as the Folang had bitten with considerable strength. Looking to his left, he managed to roll and throw his axe in a beautiful straight line towards another of the creatures backs. Although sadly he missed, and the axe went thud into a tree.

Luckily, the sword of Amos crunched into the flying beast's chest, but the force of it coming down would have torn Amos from atop his horse. The Folang did not notice the axe, as it had suddenly toppled to one side and closed its eyes. Where the silver had touched it, there were visible burn marks, and a foul odour filled the air. The vallery fell quiet and Daesdikhin was still not in sight.

Amos was torn from his horse and fell onto the ground hard rock as dust flew into the air. Amos lay there, silently, his horse sniffing his face. He moved the stinking, heavy beast off him and slowly sat up, withdrawing his sword from it's gut. The blade was stained with black blood and it's foul odour reeked the air. He clambered to his feet and looked around at the cliffs for any more creatures before looking over at Samuel. "Hey, you okay, Rock?"

Clambering to his feet, and pulling what he thought to be a wounded soldier from the ground, but what was two seconds later revealed to be a mangled Folang leg, Samuel responded with a "Yessir!" before collecting his axe. Latching his gear to his belt, he waited for the superior and their new entourage member to make some decisions.

Daesdikhin was standing nearby now, glancing down towards the fortification that was nearby. He seemed to be talking to himself very quietly, and his eyes danced about the mountaintops and cliff faces around them. He then turned to the troop.
"There are more, but if we reach the fort, we can try to stop them with... projectiles. We must make haste. Amos, move your men down into the wall!" And Daes himself sprinted with great agility toward this wall. No moving things could be seen from where they were. Perhaps they were on the other side, where the heavy mist lay.

Amos nodded to Daesdikhin and mounted his horse with the rest of his troop. They quickly rode toward the wall with great speed. The area around the wall was very misty and the sky was darkening as dark clouds rolled overhead and thunder was heard in the distance. Daesdikhin was barely visible as he was ahead of them and in thicker mist.
When they were not far from Carson's wall, Amos quickly halted his horse as the rest did the same. He scanned every brick of the fortification, his eyes open to any noises. Daesdikhin was nowhere to be seen. "Daesdikhin?" Amos whispered.

Samuel uneasily looked around from the back of the line. He had very little knowledge of this fortification... he didn't even know if it was still theirs. Chasing shadows and whispers with his eyes, and fingers from the hilt of his sword, Samuel waited and prayed that Amos would hurry up.

Daesdikhin burst out the wooden door at the foot of the western tower and waved to him. A few weary soldiers exited beside him. The fort seemed occupied by Legionites, fortunately.
"Hurry!" Daesdikhin cried. "We need to man the battlements! Leave your horses there and get up to the top level!" And he ran inside again.

Amos quickly dismounted his horse and ran for the left tower that Daesdikhin ran inside, just as it started to pour with rain. Inside the tower it was dark and gloomy, rich with the stench of death. There was just a wooden door to the right and a spiraled staircase leading upwards. Again, Daesdikhin was nowhere in sight. The door was shut so Amos figured he went up the stairs, so Amos ascended them.
Upon reaching the top he saw Daesdikhin on the wall looking south, watching for The Enemy. Sheets of rain were smashing against the wall wave after wave, making it hard to see and hear anything. "Where are they?" Amos shouted to Daesdikhin struggling to overpower the noise of the rain. He drew his sword.

Watching the other troopers charge to the top of the right tower, along with Amos, Samuel insinctively, ran towards the other tower. Slamming the wooden door behind him, Samuel breathed a sigh of relief to be out of the rain. The room was dark, and it stank, to say the least. Taking a half lit lantern, and restoring it to light with his breath, Samuel went about lighting a couple more in the room, as the rain pounded on. He wished he didn't. Blood. A mangled corpse. And a missing killer. Charging for the staircase, and making it up to the next floor, Samuel was stopped in his tracks by a low growl. Suddenly, from further up the staircase, a creature leapt at him, a Folang! Whipping his sword to come between them, Samuel and the creature locked together, and tumbled through a door out onto the battlements. A brief struggle, before Samuel kicked the beast from him, and scrambled to a fighting position. He was just relieved that the man named Daesdikhin was but a few paces behind him.

Daesdikhin was just behind Samuel, but he did not stop to ask if he was all right. He brushed past him, muttering only one word; "Hurry."
He waited for Samuel to join him and Amos at the top of the battlements, where several fellow archers stood, and he explained some more.
"Some got through again, but our men will take care of them," he yelled above the hardening rain. "There is a swarm headed for here from up there," he pointed up into the dark valley, "but I'll take care of as many as I can from the ground. You two will need bows. Use only silver arrows. Amos can get some from one of the archers. Now, if you'll excuse me..."
Surprisingly, he leapt directly off the battlements, somersaulting in the air once, falling three stories and landing in a squat. He stood, glanced over his shoulder at the tower, and vanished into thin air. From up in the valley came a smear of shadow that made noises like clanging metal and gnashing teeth.

Amos watched as Daesdikhin vanished. He closed his eyes and bowed his for a mere second before claiming a spare bow and some silver arrows from one of the archers. Amos turned to where Samuel was and shot the Folang in the head, before it had a chance to recover.
"Watch yourself, Rock. We must be fully aware at all times!" Amos shouted above the rain, scouting the edge of the valley.
The rain was not a great strategic edge for bows, but there was not much else they could do. Amos spotted a group of creatures not too far from the wall. He could'nt quite make out exactly what type they were but he thought they should attack them. "Look!" Amos shouted to his fellow archers. " Down there. A group of creatures." Amos and his archers took aim, and released the arrows.
