"Hrm..." He tilted his head to the side as he put together the image. "Short brown hair, slight of build... short..." He nodded. "I believe you passed him on your way out." He chuckled. Not entirely accurate, but fair. Even if they did knock him over.
He started slightly at the sound of a dull thud. He held up a paw, ears twitching, silently requesting for the knights to hold their words. He looked over his shoulder, then turned around, scowling at the door he came from. He knew it was closed when he had gone through it. Looking back at Isaac, he indicated his door with his head, suggesting someone was listening there as he began to approach it, listening carefully for further movement.

Isaac went to speak but was silenced. Again, he thought to oppose but then he noticed that Max seemed to be indicating something. A nod toward the door and then he got it. He thought somebody was eavesdropping. They immediately took action. Two of them quickly flanked the door and the third stood by Max. Isaac nodded at Max, motioning for him to proceed and investigate.

Upon seeing the people in shiny armor move closer to the door, Akire dropped what was left of his food and looked around quickly. There wasn't anyplace good to hide! Only one place that he knew, and only if the men were stupid enough for it. Quickly placing his hands on the counter, Akire lifted himself up, and tossed himself with his arms to the other side of the counter.
However, Akire didn't put into account the flour that was on the counter, and left two hand prints in it, which seemed rather confusing to look at, as it looked like a kid just placed his hands on the table and left. He didn't even know he had flour on his hands, as he was sitting on the floor, hidden only by the counter. He was holding his breath, daring not to move or even make any kind of sound. He placed his hands on the floor to either side of him, and closed his eyes, hoping that if he couldn't see them, they couldn't see him.

The Ildemin carefully, but quickly popped his head around to look inside. Seeing nothing, he frowned and opened the door entirely. Eyes narrowed, ears pricked, he looked around, trying to find what he had surmised to be the kid from before. He began moving around slowly, not paying attention to what the knights were doing.
Strange... where could he have gone...?
The young mage was baffled, and then he came to the counter. The handprints. The child had been here at some point. He scowled at the handprints, not moving from the counter.

On seeing Max enter the building safely, Isaac and another soldier followed and the other two stayed at the door. They stood either side the Ildemin and peered about at the ignorant tavern-goers.
"Did you see anyone?" Isaac asked Max quietly. "I don't th... What are you looking at?" He followed Max's eyes to the handprints on the counter. "Our culprit did that? Why would he leave a trace of himself and then run? We can get a drawing of these to match to any suspects we find!" He headed back to get the other two men, but before he did, said, "Ildemin, search the room and ask the people if they saw the described child, if you would. I will be outside a moment."

Akire heard their remarks about the flour, and looked at his hands. They where covered in the white power, so he wiped them off on his belted shin guard, spreading the white substance over them. The other person was being silent. Akire's tummy grumbled in protect to the unfinished food, now on the floor by the door, probably squashed or crushed by the door or the feet of the men.
Looking around, he noticed a pastry on the counter above his head, peering above the counter to see if anyone was looking, Akire quickly swiped the sweet and ducked back under the counter, cramming his face with the food.

He considered mentioning that he had a name, but instead obeyed, going into the next room and asking around. He suspected the child had slipped up and laid his hands on the counter. But why would he be near there anyway?
Finding nothing, he went back to the counter, when the idea struck him. If the handprints were on the counter, perhaps the child left another clue near there. Maybe a document or something. He made a beeline for the counter, planning to stake it out.

Isaac stood on the spot as he saw Max leave the room. He waited there for some minutes, and, after the brief period he went to check around a corner, did not notice or expect a missing pastry upon his return. Instead, he stood a short while longer until he saw Max return and head for the counter. He nodded agreeably, assuming the Ildemin was figuring something out. Seeing that the counter was being covered, Isaac went back outside to instruct his men, leaving Max and Akire alone.
[Now might be a good time to team up inconspicuously. Akire is clearly innocent and Max would soon realise this]

Akire sat behind the counter, having forgotten why he was hiding there in the first place, as he finished the pastry. He was licking his fingers with delight as he sat on the floor, squirming with impatience at having to sit there waiting for... wait? Why was he waiting there?
He poked his head over the counter, and remembered quickly as people were looking around. He caught a glimpse of someone, the guy that had shoved him not once but twice, as he walked out of the room. Then, someone else walked in, dressed in robes.
Seeing the person walking in, he quickly ducked down again, out of sight. He hoped he wasn't spotted, and that his quick reflexes out paced the other person. If he was lucky, he would have been under the counter top and out of view before the person was fully in the room.
It wasn't long before his belly rumbled demanding more food, as he was rather hungry. He didn't dare move now though, having eaten at least a pastry and knowing people are back into the room. He knew he should have bolted from the window instead of eat, but he was so hungry...

The Ildemin lounged against the counter for a moment, ears pricked before he sighed. He heard the odd rumbling sound from the other side and had his suspicions confirmed, well technically. There was evidence indeed, probably the child himself. He sighed as he peered over the counter.
"You may as well stop hiding. I don't know why I couldn't scent you before, but I heard that sound before. There's no point hiding, since you're only prolonging the inevitable."

Carefully, and slowly, Akire pocked his head above the counter top. "You... you're not gonna... hurt me are you?" The boy stampered out. He was confident that he could get around this man, but he had friends, and they might be a problem. "I'll pay for the bread... I gots money..." Akire was looking at the face of this man, trying to see his face rather under the dark hood of his robe.
As Akire reaches up to look over the counter, you could see flour prints being left by his hands from where he touched. He was also slightly dusty and looked unkept. It seemed as though the boy hadn't seen a bath in some time, though might have cleaned in the rain or something. His clothing was of a different fashion than the others from around here.

The Ildemin eyed the boy, taking in his unkempt appearance. "I'm not going to chase you up for cash for bread, that's not my problem." He eyed the dusty hands with an internal sigh. He had been right after all. Although the chances of this kid being responsible were small.
"I guess you were listening before when I was talking to the knights?" His voice was quiet. He didn't want to reveal his find yet, and hopefully the knight would not reappear yet. "What do you have to say?"

Akire shrugged, "I heard... I have no idea. I was just walking by was all. I mean, me? Carry stone arms? What would I do with such a thing anyway?"
He hadn't noticed his hands leaving marks yet, and so hadn't wiped them off. "So? You're not going to yell at me for eating the food?" Looks at the stranger with large, pleading eyes of blue.

"No I'm not going to. I know what being hungry is like." He said softly. "And yes, I don't think you could carry stone arms around... What is that knight up to?"
He looked thoughtful, gloved hands going beneath his hood to his chin. "I need evvidence of someone else, so they have to change the direction of this... Investigation."

Akire smiles at the man, "Information? Is that what you wanted? I might be able to help with that... if you let me out of here." Akire looked around for a few moments, looking for a window or some kind of escape. There was the doors, but the rude jerk knights were out there.
"I know a few people that know a few people that know things that happen. If you promise to keep a secret, I'll bring you to them." While Akire was looking around, he saw another thing of food, a loaf of bread. It was a kitchen after all. He quickly grabbed it, not even thinking, and tucked it inside some cloth folds to keep it safe and clean. It would make for a good meal for some of his friends in the area... and might make a good payment for what information this man was looking for. "We gotta work fast though... oh... fruit... I like fruit..." His one track mind was once again wandering to food, as he snagged some fruit as well. Not one to be overly greedy though, he dropped a few coins on the counter were the flour was, just now realizing that his hands were covered on dry white power. He quickly wiped his hands on his shirt, making it even more messy.
