Once she had seen to the Master's needs, Tisiphone was allowed to proceed to the servant's mess hall to eat her own meager fare. However, she a carried a small bundle with her, some venison cutlets she had managed to secret away from the master's main course. He'd caught a deer on a hunt, and that was to be the main course, but since there weren't any guests to speak of there was plenty to go around, so a few missing bits of meat would surely go unnoticed.
Once in the mess hall, she looked around for her brother, but finding him was no easy task considering how little he stood out. Once she did locate him, Tisiphone sat next to him, handing him the little bundle. She spoke in a hushed voice, "Here, I saved these for you, brother. Fresh cutlets from the master's hunt."

Traephen looked at them surprised. He sighed, "Well, at least something good came of today." And ate with her, not saying much, as he wasn't one for completely irrelevant chat, and all topics of relevance currently were too suspicious to discuss at the table. About halfway through the meal, however, he did find an appropriate topic. "Say, what are those books you've been reading lately about? Still the same old stories about heroes and whatnot?" he asked.

Tisiphone smiled. "Yeah... you know me, I'm a sucker for all those old fairy tales about heroic paladins and whatnot." She sighed. "This last one was quite... interesting. maybe a little too racy though."

Traephen snickered at the last comment. He couldn't help teasing her a tad about her books. But he quickly changed the subject slightly to avoid retribution "So, you keep reading those books about the Paladins, but from what I gather, they don't do much anymore. Why not read stories about the Knights of Phedailin? You wouldn't have to cross an ocean to meet them."

Tisiphone shrugged. "Oh I don't know. I like all those old stories. It really makes you feel like you could do something great, even if you are just one person." She giggled, "I suppose its a silly notion for a girl like me to have though."

Traephen had an urge to say 'you got that right', but refrained, and instead said "Well, we won't be here forever you know. It's not like I have any good friends here, and as far as I know neither do you. Besides, I know you want to be a cook about as much as I want to go to school."

"What, that's nonsense." She lied. She knew she couldn't conceal her unhappiness from her brother, but she had to try, for his sake. "I'm a great cook, and besides, its not that bad here. It's better than being stuck in that orphanage."

"I suppose" he replied, though obviously not with much enthusiasm. By now, they had almost finished with their meal. "That was quite good. I think I'll go ahead to the room. And don't worry, I'm done practicing for the day." And with that, he rose to make his way back to his room, perhaps do some review in his book about magic he had stashed away.

Tisiphone finished the rest of her meal in a brooding silence. How long could she go on this way, pretending to be happy? But where else could she go? It wasn't like she had any family to fall back on, and she needed to provide for her brother.
Eventually she excused herself, and headed back to her room.

About a half hour after both Siblings had reached their room, Traephen finally placed his book back into hiding. "Say, aren't half those books overdue?" he said, with a plan in mind. He needed to see if the library's old wing had any more books with details about magic, but his sister wasn't going to just let him waltz about the town when nightfall was only an hour away.

Tisiphone shook her head. "I'd say more than half of them... why do you ask? You aren't 'volunteering' to help me carry them back to the library are you?"

Traephen's mouth formed a slight smirk "Maybe, and I might even be willing to get you off the hook for the worst of the late fees." he said. "I think some of those are over 2 months due at least."

Tisphone glanced at her books. "Surely that can't be..." She paused, trying to think back. "Well uh..." She sighed. "You see..."

"I thought so. Now, do you want my help or not?" Traephen said. He had now gotten up and was pulling out his 3rd and last pair of clothing; a commoner's plain shirt and pants, both again with tasteful yet dull colors, but significantly more durable. This was, like the rest of his outfits, put together by him to avoid notice. Attention was never something he wanted or needed, and usually just made his life harder than it needed to be, in his mind.
"If i'm right, about a quarter of those books are past the maximum borrowing time. Leave those to me, and just take the rest in and pay the late fees. You have enough money for them, right?" Traephen said, being obvious he had put significant planning into this.

Tisiphone closed her eyes, thinking. "I'm not sure. Let me check." She made a big show of rifling through her stuff as she went to her hiding spot and found her money pouch, which she then opened. But she smiled when she saw the contents. "Wow I didn't know I had this much left over."
In fact, she remembered having significantly less the last time she'd looked. Had she simply misremembered? But she couldn't see how a few extra coins could have gotten into her carefully hidden pouch, not even Traephan knew its whereabouts.
"Alright, we should go, Trae. I'll be glad to have someone with me this time, the streets can be a little dangerous for a lone girl, especially this time of night." She tied her money pouch around her neck, letting it fall into her bosom.
