Nari sniffed the spear head. It stank of human blood, which he'd smelt many times before. Screwing up his face, he stood and observed both spear halves carefully. He looked around. If there were humans watching, he would have smelt them already. Sirins, however, are a different matter. A thorough visual scan of the surrounding forest told him that they were alone for the time being, but he didn't want to take his chances with being spotted. He went back to the other two after they had time to talk for a little bit.
"We need to get out of here," he said. "Dirn, no matter what, you can't mention this to anybody else, okay?"

Tern wrinkled his nose as well then closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them to look around they looked to have dark fog swirling through them. He stood and walked a short distance with his head tilted to one side then stopped near the body.
"He wants us to take his shield." He said then picked it up before looking back to Nari and Dirn. "Yes, you can't mention it to anyone. Not your parents. No one. I wasn't here." He then knelt and made marks in the dirt with his claws. "I can get you both out of here, Nari but I'm not sure if I should take the pup too."

Dirn shook his head in response to the order. "No I won't tell anyone Mr. Nari sir." The sight was still too disgusting for him to look at and the spear looked hideous the way it was.
"How do you know he wants us to take the shield? He's dead." He watched Tern make the marks in the dirt and was both frightened and annoyed at Tern's remark. "You can't leave me here! What if I get killed by humans? And I have a name."

Nari looked from Dirn to Tern and back again. He thought hard for a moment and then untied one of the pieces of cloth that were tied around the bottom of his shorts.
"We can take him... Dirn, I want to blindfold you so that you aren't frightened. It will only be for a few minutes, and I'll hold your hand so you know I'm here. You trust me, don't you?"
He looked at Tern and motioned for him to add some supportive words to convince Dirn.

Tern looked up from the marks in the snow. "If I tell you my name, Dirn, you have to promise not to mention it in the Village. They don't like me there." He pauses for a moment. "I'm Tern." He then looks back to the markings he's made in the snow for a moment.
"He asked me to. The body is dead but it's just a shell, his spirit is still here. I can see it and talk to it. It's the way it happens." He makes some more marks then looks up as Nari suggests blindfolding Dirn.
"I won't leave you. It wouldn't be right." He then nodded. "It won't be long and you'll be safe if you hold Nari's hand. I won't let anything bad happen." He then waited for Dirn agree to the blindfold.
