[You created these people so you can use them as your NPCs ] Srafel watched on keenly and keeping quite low. He saw some movement inside tents as Weiss called out and moved clockwise around the camp, keeping up on the nearby ridge and hiding behind the dead trees.

Turning round to each tent constantly, Weiss was beginning to worry for the travellers. Either they were asleep, had frozen to death, or had met a more gruesome fate.
One of the tents rippled, and a man with some unique and horrific injuries upon him, as if he had been impaled on a closed bear trap, only to have it spring open inside of him, staggered out. Rushing to his aid, Weiss called Srafel over, and unbuckled his Crystal sword, holding it raised with his right hand, while he held the onto the man's shoulder with his left, to keep him physically connected.

Srafel leapt off the cliff and sprinted to their air, skidding in the snow on his knees and taking a closer look at the man. He growled at himself and whipped out his sword as he jumped to his feet, looking around at the white surroundings.
"Stupid travellers," he muttered. "It's not like monsters to attack and then leave," he said to Weiss, "so whatever did this is probably still alive... and watching..."

A screech from one of the more battered tents, confirmed Srafel's assumption. Weiss throughly cursed him, then rose to find the beast.
Hobbling out from the tent, was an ape like creature, with pale, snow stricken skin, half crawling as it supported itself on one arm. It certainly wasn't a native beast. It couldn't survive the climate with a coat like that. Perhaps somebody brought it as a captive to be traded, or handed to some selfish princess somewhere.

Srafel didn't wait a single moment before attacking the beast. He ran at it and thrust his sword for the ape's body with dazzling speed, and a shock of lightning ran through his blade.

Staying back and watching, immpressed by the younger mans psychotic urge to skewer the murderous beast, Weiss was more concerned as to what it was.
While Srafel likely cleaned his blade and posed for non-existent bystanders, Weiss had made his way to the last tent the creature had come from. Blood. The one before that. Blood. ... And an arm. The one before that. A battered cage. It had indeed been brought here for some reason. Maybe this convoy kept a record log somewhere. Steppimg back out of the tent, Weiss called Srafel over, and explained his idea.
"Search the main tents for a logbook, a roster, or something that might explain or contain some information on the shipment of a live animal."

Srafel glared at him almost viciously. "Has this coldness numbed your brain? If blood has been spilt, other creatures will be here soon. Very soon... Not that I care what happened here, but if you're really so interested..."
He ran into the largest tend and came out with a chest not much wider and longer than a piece of paper. It seemed to be made for holding just that, and perhaps scrolls, too. He put it at Weiss's feet.
"Of course the largest tent is going to contain all documents of an organised travelling party. Now, can we get out of here before something smells all of this dark-moon?"

"You found that in there? Well might as well take the whole thing. Srafel, please stand back."
Raising his arms wide to his sides, Weiss' hair blew towards the tent, as a shrill, freezing wind came to his back. Huge chunks of ice, blown from the mountains crashed around and encased the tent, and as Weiss raised his arms higher, levitated it. The frozen ground cracking, the giant glacier moved towards them. Weiss scrambled up it, and extended a hand down to Srafel.
"Surely you don't want to be dinner for that strange howling I hear?"

Srafel catapulted himself up in a single leap and landed easily. "Surely not."
He went into the tent and began searching through the items, throwing them every which-way. He wasn't quite sure what he was looking for. He didn't even know if Weiss knew he couldn't read. Such was the way of one raised solely for battle.
"What am I looking for?" he finally asked. "This?" He held up a parchment with a list on it and down the left of the page were diagrams of animals.

Standing atop the encased tent, with Srafel poking around inside, Weiss shrugged.
"That could be it. Looks promising. Now watch out for sharp objects down there!"
In a bowing motion, Weiss thrust the great crystal accross the icy wastes. All things contained as well. Crashing and shuddering now and again, as it skidded the frozen ground like a flat stone accross the lake, It left a rather comical trench behind it as it went. Within the space of no more than minutes, they had arrived back at Weiss' spire. Looking back into the now utterly disorganised wreck that was the tent, Weiss wondered with a grin what had happened to Srafel during the trip. A half shaped pile of furniture and cloth looked promising.

Srafel walked from behind Weiss, bumping shoulders. He went and pulled his cape from the pile of furniture, slinging it round himself again and taking the scroll towards the spire behind them, barely waiting for the old man.
"Come on," he said. "We don't have time to be standing around grinning stupidly."

Looking down into the pile, over to Srafel, then back into the pile again with a shrug, Weiss made a mental note to salvage some pots, pans, and whatnot from the tent later.
Waving off the Icey doorway, the two stepped in, and were raised up through the giant crystal once more. Setting out the logs and scrolls on a block of Ice used as a table, the two got to work figuring out what the creature had been for.

Srafel just scanned them quickly with his eyes. "It makes no sense to me," he muttered. "Maybe it was just taken here for game hunting. That wouldn't surprise me one bit."
He picked up some more forms and inspected them for insignias or similar. Most of them were rough and did not seem formal or official. They were more hastily scribbled notes than anything. He threw the papers down again and walked to the balcony, looking out towards the now almost invisible camp.

With a wide grin and a small chuckle, Weiss shook his head.
"Still can't put A with B can you? Look here." Pointing to one of the insignia's on one of the documents, Weiss explained to the illiterate vigilante what was happening. "They brought that creature here, because they were heading to the temple. For some reason, they were going to sacrifice it. But I don't recall the ancient religion having any part in such practices... any ideas soldier?"

Srafel turned his head so that he could look at Weiss sideways, and he did so for a mere second, but his eyes fell to the floor beside him. He whispered, "Sacrifice is unheard of in the worship of Nikina. They were trying to defy the temple. They were trying to defy... MY temple." He stood to face Weiss front-on. "They wouldn't have reached it before being spotted by me. It is my home and I protect it with my life and my blade." He stared into the old man's eyes, his own, dark and narrow, partly covered by his tattered fringe.
