Georgio was considering the options as he nodded slowly, he raised his hand to trace their path before them.
"Yes, the coast is too dangerous. Such a path cannot be travelled." He swung his hand over to the cliffs now. "While precarious, there is indeed something of a path through those cliffs. Or at least, a line of transit." Now his hand settled on the road (for lack of a better term before them) "That however is out of the question. We'll never get lost following that."
Letting Colten draw his own conclusions, and silently hoping it gives him a bit of a scare, Georgio then wordlessly set off towards the razor-like cliffline.

The path wasn't as dangerous as it seemed from afar; the road was sufficiently wide and easy-going, though it was quite long and twisted. The wind picked up and dropped bitterly, carrying with it the pungent smell of salt and a sickening coldness from somewhere vaguely north-eastward.
"Uhh, Georgio," Colten said after what was at least two or three hours of walking. "What... Why are we... you... What are you trying to do? I mean where are you going? To Central Ideitess, okay, but what for? I don't mind, that is, this feels all adventury and such, but some motive would be nice."
He glanced above them to see dark birds circling. He wasn't sure if they were curious seabirds or something more mysterious.
"And maybe it's just me, but one would assume that on the road to the resting place of the god of destruction, one would meet more... resistence... Maybe?

Georgio belayed his response, mulling over how best to answer Colten. His mind wandered when he realisd the boys worried statements were valid, especially that of their being no resistance in the land of monsters beyond the wall.
"Isn't a little adventure enough?" That wouldn't sate him. Georgio could tell Colten needed reason, solid reason to stay by his side and not run back to civilisation as fast as his feet could take him. The truth is Georgio didn't know what to find. Was he senile to think there would be some gaping portal to the answers he seeked? Or that the answers he wanted would exist? Was he senile to think the captain of Lyte could really be an agent from 'the enemy', as if from a fabled story of adventure and espionage?
"A fools wander before us Colten. Lets see where it takes us, then..." Georgio couldn't help it, while he himself was having tiny second thoughts, he did enjoy testing his companions resolve. "Then maybe I'll work out what we're doing here."

After far too much walking, the path sloped down a little as it worked its way back to level ground, away from the precarious cliffside skuttleways. Still, after the sun set and rose again, they had met no resistance. They walked along clifftops and then over thorny and vast fields with mountains to their right. With the sun high above them, a seering heat set in and the dull green stretch before them seemed to shimmer.
Colten, unusually silent for a long time, piped up randomly; "Do you realise that we could just drop dead and nobody would ever know? That's that. Gone. Down a hole. Off a cliff. Or I could step on a thorn and get fatally poisoned. Or we could die for no reason, you know, if a certain somebody didn't want us here..."
He slowed his walk and began to peer around. "This is the biggest adventure of my life... but it's SO BORING." He began to drag his heels as he walked, scarring the dirt and rough tangled grass and leaving a distinct trail.
[This part won't drag on too much longer]
